Post Op Sleeping Question
For the first 3 weeks I slept solely on my back in a pretty much upright position. During that time, I would wake up frequently at night because my rear (where all the pressure was) was sore and I couldn't get comfortable. No big deal....
Well now my two drains have been removed and the PS told me that I could sleep on my sides if I wanted to (I am a stomach sleeper so I really wish I could do that but I will take side)! The last few nights I have slept on my side but when I wake up in the morning, my upper hip/thigh area is sore. Sore so much that its sore to the touch even now (7 hours after waking).....Is this normal? Could it be from the residual swelling that is pooling in the hip/thigh area?
I know its kind of random but if anyone has had this.....
Thanks, Courtney

It could be swelling - and making it tender. I had a TT 6 weeks ago and have slept on my side since day 5 or so, but I also didn't have a BL. I haven't had the tenderness you've experienced either or swelling on the side - just in the middle. It could just be because you're not accustomed to sleeping on your side and your muscles are tender there? Just guessing here...

One note......if you have a spot that is so sensitive (like even a bed sheet touching it hurts) and it's on the legs, especially from the knee and lower, you have to be careful that it is not a blood clot. I once had a "surface blood clot" after having knee surgery....it was on the side of my leg just below the knee and man did it hurt! FYI - A surface clot is no where near as bad as a deep vein blood clot. I'm paranoid about them since having this so I'm extra careful.
Hope the side is feeling better now.
I slept on my back for a week or so and was so grateful to move to my side. I am a tummy sleeper too and can't wait to go back. Oh well. Sleeping on your back is better for your face but I just can't do it!
