Post Op Sleeping Question

Just wondering if this happened to anyone else....I am 4 weeks out with my TT and BL....
For the first 3 weeks I slept solely on my back in a pretty much upright position.  During that time, I would wake up frequently at night because my rear (where all the pressure was) was sore and I couldn't get comfortable.  No big deal....

Well now my two drains have been removed and the PS told me that I could sleep on my sides if I wanted to (I am a stomach sleeper so I really wish I could do that but I will take side)!  The last few nights I have slept on my side but when I wake up in the morning, my upper hip/thigh area is sore.  Sore so much that its sore to the touch even now (7 hours after waking).....Is this normal?  Could it be from the residual swelling that is pooling in the hip/thigh area?

I know its kind of random but if anyone has had this.....

Thanks, Courtney

It could be swelling - and making it tender.  I had a TT 6 weeks ago and have slept on my side since day 5 or so, but I also didn't have a BL.  I haven't had the tenderness you've experienced either or swelling on the side - just in the middle.  It could just be because you're not accustomed to sleeping on your side and your muscles are tender there?  Just guessing here...

I'm not a Dr or a Nurse but from my experiences I think it could be either swelling or the nerves starting to reconnect.  I occasionally have the same feeling on my right hip.  Sometimes we develop spots that become "hypersensitive" and can really hurt with the slightest touch.
One note......if you have a spot that is so sensitive (like even a bed sheet touching it hurts) and it's on the legs, especially from the knee and lower, you have to be careful that it is not a blood clot.  I once had a "surface blood clot" after having knee surgery....it was on the side of my leg just below the knee and man did it hurt!  FYI - A surface clot is no where near as bad as a deep vein blood clot.  I'm paranoid about them since having this so I'm extra careful.

Hope the side is feeling better now.

Took me many weeks before I could sleep comfrtably on my side.  My hips hurt so bad, but only for about 30 minutes.

When I woke up this morning I was so sore on the side I slept on!  I definitely am going thru the same thing.  Even now, hours later, I can touch that area and it's very sore.  When I got up my hip was swollen from the fluid pooling but that seems to be better after being up all day.
I slept on my back for a week or so and was so grateful to move to my side.  I am a tummy sleeper too and can't wait to go back.  Oh well.  Sleeping on your back is better for your face but I just can't do it!

Jodi!  That's why it hurts me to sleep on my side now.  I have no fat left there!  My bones stick really far out!  It's a bit scary and looks odd!  I am so big boned!

I'm 12 weeks out and mine are sore too!  But I think it's because I have no fat left there!  So it is bone to the bed and my TT incision is right there.

Thank you for your input....I really believe after continuously dealing with this that its the swelling...yesterday I looked about 6 months pregnant. While my mons swelling has subsided considerably, the abs are very swollen....I guess I will just have to wait it out....sleeping is now my least favorite thing just because its so uncomfortable.
