Anchor Cut
The anchor cut is used by some Doctors to do an abdominal plasty. They will make a horizontal cut just above the pubic area and then they make a vertical cut up the middle of your stomach so it looks like an upside down anchor. I prefer the horizontal incision only as the other is very obvious and cannot be hidden. Yours
The anchor cut is needed depending on where your problem areas are on your tummy. The vertical cut helps to get rid of the muffin top or extra skin above your belly button. Yes the scar is more noticable but I'd rather be scarred head to toe than pay money and not get 100% satisfaction with my new tummy. There are new bikini type bathing suits with a line of fabric going down the middle of your tummy to meet the top to the bottom. That would cover the scar completely. Check out more Before and after photos to see how the scar runs.

I'm going to add you as a friend - then you can go look at my post-op photos. Not real updated, but it will give you an idea what it looks like right after surgery and I think 10 days out. I'm 6 weeks out now and it looks much better, but is still very red. Scabs are gone and its healed up well.
