Horrible Consult

I went for my consult today for my tummy tuck and breast augmentation. They want $13,900 for the tummy tuck and breast augmentation without the lift, but the doctor said I NEED the lift, and that would would be $4,000 more.

I had a total meltdown/realization in the doctors office. He has this huge well lit 3 way mirror, and after staring at myself in nothing but that little paper thong, I realized there is no point. I could spend my entire life savings fixing my belly and breasts, but the rest of my body would still be completely disfigured from the weight loss. So even if I spent $15,000+ I still couldn't wear a T shirt in the summer because of my melting arms, I still couldn't wear shorts because of my massive floppy dimpled legs, I feel like why even bother, no matter what I will always look like a total circus freak.

That sounds a bit high.  Get a second, maybe even third, opinion.

Depending upon exactly why you need the tuck and breast work, your insurance might pick up at least part of it.  Doesn't hurt to ask.

For the amount of money quoted, you might want to consider medical tourism and go to Monterrey as have many of other ladies on this forum.  At the very least, get a quote.

One of the big reasons we decide to to the plastics is because we want to improve how we look.  You aren't even a partial circus freak, much less a total one.  Calm down, it will be fine, you just need to get at least one more medical opinion and get a plan of action together.

I am so sorry that you had a bad consult, but don't fret!  You definintely have more options and just might be able to afford to get all that you want and get a fantastic result!

I am almost 5 months post op from Dr Sauceda in Monterrey, and I am so happy that I went.  I had a lower body lift, breast lift with silicone implants, small thigh lift, and lipo to my tummy back, sides, hips, and neck with fat grafting to my butt.  I paid $14,600 for everything, including my 9 day hotel stay, 4 day clinic stay, 2 sets of compression garments, and he even reimbursed me my $600 for the flight.  I saw him everyday that I was there, and he also has a nurse that comes to the hotel to help you shower, change bandages, dress, and anything else you need.  You can check out my blog at www.livingtheskinnylife.blogspot.com for more info or join us on the Dr Sauceda board.

We have a list of other blogs that people have kept regarding their trips to Monterrey and also a list of how many OH members that are preop and post op with him.

Good luck!

Sorry you had a bad day!
Honestly the prices sound pretty close to what I was quoted from various surgeons.
Are they doing this at a hospital or an off-site surgery center....the surgery center option usually drives the price down.  If I were you I'd ask them for a better "pkg deal".  When I met with a surgeon I let them know I need the whole body done in stages and they priced me out accordingly....saved me quite a bit of money.

Don't be discouraged....start with one or two procedures then save up and you can get another two done if you decide you need them.  As BigCityGirl said to me many times..."plastic surgery is not a race"....take it slow and do what you can to start, the rest will get done in time.

Chin up....hang in there!

That's expensive. Check out another Dr. Dr. Sauceda is great but there are also residency programs you can check out. (((Hugs)))

I would definitely go on more consults and consider a residency program. The prices are much more reasonable then private practice drs for sure. There have been several on here who have used residency programs and have been very pleased. You don't have to do it all at once. Do what bothers you most first and the rest later once you've had time to save. Don't give up yet!

I just saw your profile. You are beautiful girl!!! I love your pictures. You don't look terrible at all. I'm sure it's different when you see yourself naked, but don't be hard on yourself. Your young and you will get to have plastics in due time.

I'm with the others. Get more than one opinion. My first doc quoted me 10,000 for a panni and TT. I told them my insurance would cover the panni but they said it wouldn't. The next doc I went to submitted the panni to my insurance so they are going to cover it. I am also having a TT and lipo at the same time. My ou-of-pocket is going to be 3500.00. Don't get discouraged. You live in a big city so I am sure there are several more docs out there. PM me if you want the name of mine.

It would have been 4400.00 if I wanted breasts too and no lipo but I didn't.

I felt similiar to the way you feel. That is PART of the reason that I chose to go with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey. Check out his message board and you'll learn a lot, do your research and make the right choice for you, but don't feel defeated!  With your weight loss you have come too far to get defeated! Keep your head up!

I just had a lbl and bl, my thighs and arms are a little flabby but I can workout those areas a little. I never thought I would have a flat stomach, but I look good! My point is my thighs look soooo much better outer and inner after my lbl. I went to a resident program and for both was under $9,000...so check into that. You could probly have all 4 surgeries for the price you were looking to pay. I started this journey of VSG, hit goal, got plastics and now I feel sooo much better with myself. Think about it...or go to Dr. S, he is highly recommended and way cheaper than doctors here...
