How does this work?

Had my tt on Monday- ended up with anchor cut, home on Wed night. They told me they removed 16lbs of skin. When I left the hospital I weighed 172, going in at 187.

Today me feet are swelled up a little and weigh 181? Is this normal?

I do not want to worry as the drains are not draining much and I get these out on Monday but just curious how it was for others?

Thanks!!

People rarely end up losing the exact amount of weight that the surgeon removes.  Weight gain due to swelling is very normal.  If I were you I wouldn't get on the scale for awhile....you'll go crazy with all the up and down.   Sometimes it's a few lbs down by the time all the swelling goes down and I know of a few women who never end up weighing less than when they went in for surgery.  Everyone is different.
When I had my TT done, it was all skin removed......no lipo, no fat, not much tissue just mostly skin.  The surgeon removed about 5 or 6 lbs but I didn't really see that on the scale BUT I lost a bunch of inches and I'd rather have inches lost!

Hope that helps...

You definitely will have quite a bit of swelling early on.  You may wake up and not be very swollen, but by the time afternoon rolls around, you'll feel like a blowfish!

Its very normal - your weight will fluctuate with your swelling.  I'm almost 5 weeks out from my TT and my swelling is now feeling under control.  The scale still goes up and down a few pounds every day...

I still wear my compression garment at night, as that's when I seem to swell the most.

The swelling is evil and can happen at anytime.
I'm having my TOM and I am up 12lbs.  12lbs of swelling in my Tummy!  It's horrible.

I am 10 weeks post TT and Brachioplasty.  Swelling is normal.  I agree with the other poster it's best not to weigh yourself for a while.

I had my lbl on 1/29, went in at 150, out at 161. One week later, gone. It was so strange...my calves got really swollen one day and a few days later, all the excess weight gone and now at 3 weeks out I have lost another 5...Put your legs and feet up when you sleep, that is what helped me. I slept on the small couch and put pillows under my legs so they were elevated, a few days later all swelling almost gone. Good Luck! Trust me, when those drains come out you will feel great!

It's normal.  Not nice ... but normal.

Surgery math is not like normal math.

You would think 187 - 16 = 171, but it doesn't work that way (unfortunately).  You will be swollen for some period of time, and may or may not reach 171 EVER.

Or you could go lower.  No one seems to know.

Good luck!
