Almost 2 weeks post-TT!
I had my 2nd drain removed today and my surgeon told me I could wear a less confining compression garment. My surgeon recommended the high-waisted contour garments from department stores so I grabbed one at JC Pennys. It feels very strange...I almost want to put the heavy duty binder back on. Did anyone feel more comfortable in their original binder? It itches like a mutha but right now, it seems like it would feel more comfy. Anyone else feel like this? Also, when did you start to go without the binder/compression garment for a few hours at time? I will ultimately leave it up to my surgeon but I'm just curious.
All in all, though, my first two weeks have gone relatively smoothly. My pain has been manageable with meds and I'm moving around with little discomfort.
I am amazed at my surgeon's work. My stomach looks great, even with the swelling. I'm already so pleased.

I'm 4 weeks ago and I still wear my compression garment. I felt so much better in it, especially only being 2 weeks out. I wear it at night and not during the day now, even though the surgeon said to do it the other way around. When I didn't wear it at night, I swelled up something awful - it works for me. He wanted me to go without it at night to let my scars/scabs breathe....
If I'm going to be home all day in my pajamas I'll leave it on.
Wear it if it makes you feel better - its not going to hurt anything and will help the swelling.

I tried lots of store bought garments and never found one I was really comfortable in so I stick with my surgical compression garment.
FYI - you can get the stage 2 type without the zippers which are pretty nice.
Glad you are doing well.
Don't forget to get plenty of rest and lots of protein!
