Full Body Lift
How long were you down (as in couldn't go anywhere) with a full body lift? Also, what was included with the full body lift? What was your weight at the time?
I appreciated any answers. I've lost 125 lbs and would like to have surgery on April 1st. However, I'm still at 200 lbs and would like to lose 30 more lbs before I have it!
Thanks
Stacey

MY PS wanted me at goal and stabalized weight for 6 months BEFORE surgery so that the results are the best possible. Reduces the need for additional surgery to "touch-up" if you go under your goal, with your weight not stablized at this time. I think every PS has they opinion of what is right for their patients...and that is probably the best source of information. Good luck on the journey.
I would avoid against having a full body lift. I too wanted it, and am sort of having it, but I think it is advisable you have your work done in 2 procedures, depending on what you have done. I had considered doing it all at once, but my doctor said absolutely he just couldnt do it because my thighs alone have alot of skin and would require alot of time to stitch up, and it wasnt safe.
I am male, but I had my arms and breast remvoal done 2 weeks ago. I was supposed to have another surgery for my panus/abdomen/thighs 2 weeks from the first, but the doctor pushed it back to 3 weeks.
I am so glad I got that extra 3rd week. For the first 4 days it was challenging to move. I could walk slowly, but just getting around, putting a shirt on, pushing, lifting turning my upper body was challenging because my chest was sore. My chest hurt more than my arms and is still sore about 2.5 weeks later. I couldnt even close a car door, and barely open the refirgerator 4 days after surgery, because anything that involved my pectorial muscles hurt.
I couldnt fathom what it would be like, if my thighs had huge incisions and I couldnt move because of my belly being done AND my upper body problems. I would be totally illmobile and not even to use the bathroom by myself.
Another reason it is not advisable to have all the surgery done at once, is the length youll be IN surgery. I just had my arms and chest done, which is realtively simple and not a great surface area to stitch up. Even with 2 surgeons working on me, I was in surgery for 6 hours. [When I had gastric bypass, I was only in surgery for 4 hours.] If you have a full body lift, you could easily be in surgery for 10/12 hours+.
If youre scheduled to have it, good luck to you. Just make sure you have SOMEONE to help you, because having a full body lift at once, youll be illmobile for at least a week, and youll be dealing with tons of drainage tubes. The plus side... you wont have to go through it again.
