I definitely have buyers remorse with TT
Geez if it can go wrong it has.
I had Hernia repair and Anchor TT on January 19th. I ended up having a "bleeder" on the inside and they had to re-open me to find it and stop it. Then the skin died where the vertical met the horizontal incision. Then I developed a Seroma which put a ton of pressure on the dead skin. Had the Seroma drained on Wed (the 10th) of 120 cc of fluid. At that time I had 2 small pencil eraser sized holes in the dead skin, about a inch apart. Surgeon said he wasn't overly concerned, but wanted to see me again next Wed. He also said that he see's these types of issues in 5-10% of his tummy tuck patients.
So today I discovered that those 2 little holes have now merged into one about an inch long and I don't know if it's dee*****t cause I can't really see that due to the steri strips. But the stuff oozing out of this area is very smelly.
I have a call into my surgeons office.
If I could take all of this back I would. I think I would much rather have the flabby tummy at my age (57) then all of these complications. It's making it tough to concentrate because all I can think about is how my stomach is starting to open up.Found myself crying in the dish water last night.
I am so upset and just trying to stay positive. Please, please tell me it will get better!
Thanks,
Fran

I had mine at 52, and had dead skin. Formerly fat people have necrotic tissue after a TT due to poor circulation in the area. And yes it wil get well. Mine took a long long time, but I went into my TT and hernia repair with an open wound from a hernia repair at the time of my RNY 2 years before.
It is a long story, but with good care and a PS who doesn't give up, and willingness on your part to see this through, you will get well.
Daed tissue usually falls away after a while, or needs to be removed, and the open wound will get well if the tissue is fresh and pink after debriding9 dead skin removal).
Several people have gone through this, and most of us don't have horrible scars.

My "plastic surgeon" was actually my gastric bypass surgeon. I trust him a lot! And when I developed a hernia last November he said that he would fix that and do the Anchor TT on me. I do not in the least feel like he did anything wrong. I was just one of those few cases where "if it can go wrong, it will".
Oh....my surgeon was Dr. Preston Carter at Madigan Army Medical Center, thru the Tricare system.
No regret's about anything except these stupid complications.

UPDATE: When my surgeon called back he recommended that I go to the emergency room. And I'm glad I did. They ended up removing the blackened skin, draining another seroma and then packing the wound. My husband will have to do the wet/dry packing 2 times a day (because I can't bear to look at it right now****il I go back to the surgeons office on Wednesday. At that time they will put one of those vacuum thingy's on me. I understand that the wound heals faster with that, then with just the wet/dry packing. I am also now on a antibiotic.
I am still trying to keep the proverbial "stiff upper lip", but I must say it is still difficult to look at.
Thanks to everyone for all your special thoughts and prayers.
