how long before you had PS

Hi. I am new to this board and had a question. I am 8 months out and have lost almost 100 pounds. I have about another 10 -15 that I want to lose. I am switching jobs and have sick time I need to use or I lose it. I am going for a consult for a TT and wondered how long everyone waited to have theirs done. I know most say a year but has anyone had it at 8 months out. It is truely a time issue. If I don't do it now it will be a VERY long time before I am able to get it done. Thanks for your input.

I was 14 months out  my surgeon said with rny you will lose until about 18 months out.. I would wait if I were you  you will probably cap off around 130 or so.. let your body stabilze at a weight for at least 3 months before seeking a surgeon ... just my opinion .. Good Luck in your journey..

REally? You think I'm going to keep losing that much? I have been in the mid 160's for the last month now and don't seem to be budging. My goal is 150 so the thought of 130 seems very foreign to me. I know that 8 months out is pretty early. Im grateful for the advice from those of you farther along in your journey.

8 months is a little early, you should really wait until your weight has stabilized for 6 months, but it is your choice

I was 2 years out from RNY and my weight had been stable for a year.   I do have a friend who had aTT at the one year post RNY  mark and she did great.  Most PS that I know of do not want to do PS as long as you still want to lose weight....  it can mess up the results.

Good luck!

I was the required / recommended 18 months out, and now at 8 weeks post op, have lost another couple of pounds and have a little skin on my tummy.  But all in all, I'm really happy with the results.  My doc would not have done it any sooner.

Every Dr. is different.  I'm 6 months out and I realize I should wait for surgery, but I want to do consultations now.  I had my first last week, and the PS told me I could do surgery whenever I hit my goal.  Didn't matter on time frame.  So I think it depends on your body and the PS.

I also had my consult at 6 months. There's nothing wrong with getting "your ducks in a row". It also keeps you focused on your goals and gives you something else to look forward to. Good luck!

I have a very good friend who had extensive plastics (arms/lbl) at 7 months out and two years later it looks better than any plastics I have seen.  You would never, ever guess that this person had been overweight.  The scars have even faded to where they are not noticeable.  I am 5 years out from RNY, have had two postop c-sections, the most recent of which was 8 months ago.  Having my tt/bl/ba next Wednesday.
Good Luck!
P.S.  I think that if your only choice is to do it now, go ahead.  It's not ideal, but it can be done!
