Excitement and Shear TERROR over plastics....

So Im scheduled for March 16th to get Full tummy tuck, lipo to hips and back, and a breast lift. And while Im experiencing extreme excitement (especially when Im training with my trainer and ever aware of my jiggling skin - knowing it will be gone shortly), Im also quite terrified. Like........a lot.
I have the bes surgeon and have immense confidence in who is performing my surgery. But after reading some stuff on the boards about necrosis and wound care and wound vacs and all this stuff that sounds painful, and horridly expensive (as insurance wouldn't cover it due to relation of elective surgery - right?) Im getting frightened.
Someone calm my fears please!!!!

Join the club......LOL
Fear and excitement are normal reactions.  I always go thru the ups and downs especially right before a procedure.  I'm going in again on Monday and today I'm a bundle of nerves....tomorrow I will probably be more excited than nervous.

I'm sure it will all go well for you just like it did for me and many many others on the forum.
FYI - my TT (anchor cut) was a piece of cake...was my breast reduction and lift.

Having confidence and trusting your surgeon is a great thing.  I too love my surgeon but sometimes unexpected complications arise for even the best surgeons...it's rare and it is almost always quickly fixable.  So have faith, relax and enjoy the ride.....

Best wishes on your journey

Emerging,
I understand...it is scary and exciting at the same time!  I had brachioplasty in November.  Even though I learned a lot from this board, I found it better to remove myself from it about a month before my procedure!  I kept focusing on all the problems.  Sounds like you have faith in your doctor, so talk to him about your fears.

Good luck!

So is the necrosis issue more for anchor cuts? Im not getting one with anchor cut.
Im sooooooooo SOOOOOOOO excited to get my surgery done - it will be a huge relief to train for my 5k and run for charity without running through my head about what is jiggling that SHOULDN'T be!

Anyone can get necrosis.  However there may be a slightly higher risk for those who get the anchor cut where the vertical and horizontal incisions meet.  I had the LBL w/anchor cut and breast lift, lipo, butt auto augmentation and fat graph and I had no problems whatsoever.  The fears are totally normal so you are not alone!  Also, not sure if your PS has cosmettasure insurance.  It covers any complications that occur within 30 days of surgery.  Definitely worth it for peace of mind.

Sounds like you picked a great surgeon so I'm sure you'll be fine!

I was also so scared, just had a lbl and bl. The pain hasn't been bad, once the drains are out. I look fastastic, cannot believe what a good job my surgeon did. I had lipo on my lower back and outer thighs, that is a uncomfortable. Just take your meds as instructed and you will be so happy. Anyone can have a complication, but they are not normal. You read that stuff on here because people are reaching out and trying to find solutions for their complication. I have had no problems and wish a week could fly by so I feel even better, you will be fine! My doc said from working out all the time I didn't even need muscle tightening, so working out will help you heal quicker!! Good Luck!

Im using Dr. LoMonaco and I am very very impressed with his before and afters - and just in general that he is so personable.
It was the first time I ever LIKED that my appt ran an hour late because it just proves that he isn't in there to rush you in and out - he really took his time to get to know me, what I do, what I want to do and what I wanted fixed.
Im not sure about whether he offers that insurance or not, but will ask next time I speak to him.

Thanks so much for all the responses...37 days to go! I have had multiple surgeries in that area in the past (lower abdomen - ovarian cancer etc) and never had healing problems so Im going to just think positive and assume that I wont battle the issues of necrosis!

And I definatly work out 5 days a week (weightlifting 2 days and 3 days 60 min intense cardio) so Im hoping that too will help to make me heal easier!

You definately are in AWESOME hands!!  I would not freak out at all.  Not only is he awesome doing the procedure, he's amazing with his follow up and care and concern on your healing afterwards.  Take a deep breath and relax!!  And keep us posted!!
