How much does renting one typically cost? And do they deliver and pick up (I drive a Beetle!)?
Does sound great! And would make me a little more self sufficient.
How long did you have to stay out of the bed? I know I will be pacing the house a bit and looking forward to walking down the driveway for the mail (I can't STAND to sit around all day!).
Im sooooooooo sooooooo SOOOOOO ready to get this done and get healed and continue my training for the 5k charity run in October!!

I think it was $200 a month.  They do have deliver, but it costs more.  I'm not sure if Rent-A-Center charges for delivery, you should try them.  It really has helped me a LOT!  Well, technically I had to be in a "lawn chair" position when sleeping and sitting...so I guess I could have got in the bed with pillows under my legs and behind my back and head...but that would have been too difficult to get up and down from, so the relicner was PERFECT!  He told me about 2 weeks.  And yes, I was going CRAZY from sitting on my butt all day!!  I would get up to go to the restroom and would walk around the house and go out in my backyard and listen to the pool fountians, just to get fresh air and some sunshine.  It helped keep my sanity...but boy I could not WAIT for my first shopping trip out of the house!! LOL!  I'm at 3 weeks out and already went back to work yesterday and had no problem!  I do 5Ks and 10ks too!  I also do pilates and weight training.  I can tell you that I have not had the energy level yet to start running again, I have gotten  back on the treadmill, but just to walk so far.  But don't worry, you'll be ready by October for sure!

I have a couple of friends who are going to help me - one will deal with driving the kiddo to and from school - the other will spend the night with me and re-dress me after shower if needed (she is a paramedic I used to work with).

I really put myself in this bind a little because I am a photographer and weddingprom season begins the end of April - I gotta be moveable by then! LOL!

I shouldn't even complain really - I am more richly blessed than a lot of people. I should just thank God that I have the means and ability to get surgery and remember that some will fight for years to get there.

I do have to say that this office for Dr. Lo is absolutly charming! I got a phone call tonight from Elizabeth - yes, at 8:30! They never stop working!
That's crazy dedication and I know Im in great hands!
I also think I have found a couple of friends who are going to trade off babyitting me after hubby goes off shore. I love when things just fall into place so perfectly!!!

I rented my lift chair from a medical supply place and it was about $185 for a month.  The ones at Rentacenter will run you about $25 a week so they are cheaper. The reason I ended up going with the medical supply place was because they have different sizes and I was able to try them on for size since I am short.  The one at rentacenter was good too but it was a little too big for me.  The one I got from the medical place had some that reclined almost to a complete laying position too.  I slept in mine for 2 weeks since my bed was way too high.  I also loved the fact that it lifted me almost to a standing position so I didn't need help getting in and out of it.  I think you will be doing better than you think by day 7.  Just take it easy and you should be fine.
