Disappointed and Several Questions

I was scheduled for the 16th but there was a miscommunication somewhere and there are two people scheduled for that date now. My next available date with the surgeon will be the 25th of March....And Im a little scared about this.
My hubby works offshore and is gone for 3 wks and home for 3wks. I had originally planned the 16th so that he would be home to take care of me and get our small daughter to school (private school, so no bus service). But if I do this on the 25th he will only be home for 7 days....
Will I be able to do normal activity by then like Driving, and general care for myself and kiddo (she is 6)?
Should I see if I can convince a friend to come babysit me? When do you start feeling up to taking on "Normal" life again?

Or should I just cancel and try to figure out another time/route? Im just so scared I wont be fully functional and Ill be without any help! I guess I need to figure this out fast before the 25th is booked up too!

I am having a full tt, breast lift, and some lipo to the back and hips. Yikes....I guess I will begin the hunt for someone tomorrow. Most of my friends work so this should be interesting....
I wonder if there is a way to hire a nurse or something?? Someone to just come in - help me get up and down and then pick my  kiddo up? I need a BABYSITTER for mysel! LOL!

At 6 your daughter should be able to do a lot for herself.  I have an 8 year old and a 4 year old and we told them that mommy was going to the doctor and would have some "owies" for a while and that I needed them to be my special helpers for a while.  It was amazing how good they were...I'm 3 weeks out and they still keep asking me if they are being "good special helpers"..LOL!   I might need to try this technique even with no surgery..LOL!

I had an LBL and BL and I think you will definately need him that first week.  I didn't take any pain meds after the first week, so technically COULD have driven, but felt too weak to be comfortable driving.  I would think you may still need some level of help the second week..maybe not much though.  You can get home care nurses to help you after surgery for all kinds of things, I don't see why this would be any different.  You could ask Dr. Lomonaco's office and see if they could refer you to one.  Or maybe you could at least get a friend to take your daughter to and from school for you that second week.  I'm on my third week and I'm back at work, in heels and everything!

I think I may ask him. Im going to talk to one friend and see if she can take the kiddo to and from school - but have another friend of mine just come spend the night with me too (so if I need help getting up to the bathroom). Im fine once sitting up - usually....it's the whole getting to that upright position that might be impossible!

My daughter is decently self sufficient - but being an only child depends on me to be a source of entertainment throughout the day! I just dont have the ability to do that - and if Im in pain - Im a MONSTER (no patience for anything).

I know it will all work out - Im just stressing to figure it out - which is now making the hubby stress lol!

If finding help and working out the schedule gets to be too stressful for you, then I'd probably reschedule the surgery until your husband will be available again.  I know you want it over with, but waiting 3 more weeks still really isn't that long.  The time will get here just as well.  I ended up pushing back my first round of plastics to June just so I could work on my daughter's graduation party and not stress myself out.  I was originally scheduled for early May but the more I thought about it and not knowing if I would have the energy to throw a party together, I just rescheduled.  I spent more time worrying about the whole darn thing when all I had to do was pu**** back.  I hated it too and almost didn't move the date but I had some friends convince me and said that the Dr and the hospital weren't going anywhere!  LOL  In the end it worked out great and then I all I had to do was focus on my recovery.  I even missed one my nephew's grad party almost 2 weeks out because frankly, I was just too tired.  It can be done, but everyone is different.

Good luck on your decision,
Melissa

Make sure you rent a lift chair...you'll have to sleep in that too for a while, and that will help you getting to the restroom.  I also bought a toilet seat riser and I had no problems getting myself up and to the bathroom at all from the day I got home from the hospital!  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or need more details!!

I was told to get this toilet riser and plan to do so soon just to have it ready! Im more concerned with getting out of a bed and getting back into it - or doing the recliner (raising legs and lowering - it's kind of stiff). What is a lift chair?

The lift chair will be perfect for you.  It has a remote that reclines it, moves the legs up and the back reclines, and it also goes up to basically lifting you to your feet!  It made getting up a BREEZE!!!  I can not recommend it highly enough, because there is no way I could move the arm crank and use my stomach to push me back.  I rented mine from a medical supply place but Dr. Lo said you can get one from Rent-A-Center too!  It has made recovery SOOOOO easy!!  And with the LBL I was not allowed to sleep in my bed in the beginning, you should check with Dr. Lo and see if the same will apply to you with your TT.
