Hi guys!

Im new to this forum and looking for plastics info. Well actually insurance info. I currently have BCBS and that covers nada in regards to plastics. Im a stay at home mamma so I need to find an insurance (if its even possible!) that I can get an individual plan with that will cover a lower body lift, TT and boobie lift--or even implants. I realize that there are co-pays or deductibles but any insurance coverage would be a dream come true. :-)

Ive heard good things about Atena? I live in WA State and 22 months out from my very succesful VSG.

Thanks sooooo much! Appreciate any info or direction!

XO!

Hi!
I too live in Wa state and I have BCBS too.  I recently got approved for a panniculectomy, but they won't pay for any work beyond that, so if you want more done you have to pay the extra out of pocket. Iam supposed to have it done the end of April, and have an appt next week to see how much he will charge to do a little more work at the same time as I am worried about how it will look just taking the "apron" of skin off.  Don't know if I have helped you at all but let me know if I can answer any more questions for you.
Good luck

Hello. I have a different insurer and live in a different state, but I can give some insight into the general process.

Typically, the way people have a "tummy tuck" covered is because they have a pannus or "dunlop" which is skin that hangs over the stomach onto the pubis. This can create alot of moisture and rash, and because of the rash etc, it becomes "medically necessary" for people to have surgery to remove it, or a panniculectomy.  Also, people tend to have ventral hernia repairs as well, which is just a really poofy belly. So, many insurers will cover most of a "tummy tuck" through reparing a hernia and removing the pannus.

Looking at your weightloss, you look like you were a WLS "light weight" so you may not have extreme amounts of skin, and therefore because you have stretched skin, it may not be so extreme as for them to rule it non cosemtic surgery.

The first thing to do is find a plastic surgeon or surgeon to do the work. You have to work with his office and have them lobby for you. Most people who get plastic surgery are denied some if not all. You just have to have a doctors office that will try and fight for it.

I dont know how bad your condition is, and your skin situation may not be such that you can get it to constitute medical necessicity.

Hi!

Thanks so much for the welcome! And the info! I was a light weight when I was sleeved but carried a LOT of my weight in my tummy so I have lots of skin there now. And I do get the rash. Yuck. I would LOVE to have all of my problem areas addressed in plastics but I NEED the tummy gone. You have given me some hope! And great leads! I will look into reconstructive surgery and into finding a surgeon that will help me work with my insurance. Im so thankful for the advice!

XO!
