who knows...I just might get lucky?

Hello,

I've been lurking here for quite some time gathering information and taking notes.  .  I've had numerous consultions with local surgeons and have decided to go with the Residency program at  Baylor(thanks Melissa).  I've been saving and preparing to cash pay for months and the time has finally come when I am ready to set a date.  I was gonna use my 401K money to fund part of it and my tax refund for the rest.  The 401k folks don't wanna give me my $$  without a letter from my health insurance saying they won't pay for the surgery.  So.....I go in to see the doc last week to go over the procedure,  set a date  and get him to fill out some forms from my job to apply for my STD benefits and finally, submit a claim to my insurance so I can get the "denied letter".

They submitted it and insurance came back and said they need a letter of medical necessity so I call up my PCP and he says to come in to see him and let's discuss this.  To make a long story short,  he is going to write me a really descriptive letter and send it in today.  Who knows....I just might get lucky and get an APPROVAL!  Even if they only approve one of my procedures, that will be a blessing since I'm already prepared to cash pay for the whole thing!

I'm having  brachioplasty, inner thigh lift and an upper bodylift.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

I'm not sure which doc you will get.  My doc has completed his residency and is no longer a student  but since he had already done my consultation and gave me a quote, he is honoring that and will be doing my surgery.

So when you went to pull money out of your 401K and it asked for a reason you said for plastic surgery as a result of weight loss?  Or, how did that transpire?  I am just starting down that route, no way insurance is going to approve me, I self paid for my VSG as well and I have no medical reason for PS, I don't get rashes.  Wondering if I do have to hit my 401K what the best way to go about it is.  Thanks, Robin

To make an  "Early Withdrawal" for medical purposes, I have to submit a denial letter from my insurance.  If I just wanted to do a "loan", no documentation was required.

I guess you don't have a loan option in your 401k plan?

yes I do have a loan option but the maximum loan amount available is not enough to cover my costs so I need to do an "early withdrawal" for the balance.

You're welcome!!   Wouldn't it be wonderful if it DID get approved!!  Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

It seems like it took me forever to do my PS consults and decide on Baylor too.  I'm so glad I did!  Did you get your date yet?  I had to move my date back to March 4th since Dr Bullocks had a conflict for the week before.  Gosh, that's only a month away...seem like just yesterday when I had my LBL.  What are you having done first?

I love Dr. Iz.....he is so sweet!

I know I've gone to at least 10 consults over the past few years.  Baylor just seems to be the perfect choice for me.  Everything is going so smoothly so far.  I haven't gotten my date yet because he's waiting to see how long this insurance process is going to take.  We are shooting for the last week of February or first week of March.  Probably around the same time as you.

We are doing arms, thighs and upper body lift this go round.  IF (and that's a big if) I decide to go back then he wants to do a revision of my tummy tuck, breast lift  and possibly a butt lift.  I think I'll be happy with what I'm doing for now but who knows?

What are you having done this go round?

I'm having an arm lift along with auxillia repair (side boobage) and thigh lift.   Guess you could call that and upper body lift???  How far does your upper body lift go?  Does the incision go along the back or just half way?  I know there are different types depending on the amount of skin.
