What's wrong with the gummy bear implants? Please do not leave me in the dark.

There was a superb discussion of who should get these implants and who should not by
Dr. Bradley Bengtson, MD, FACS, a lead investigator in the trials.

In the video " he explains the main advantages of the Style 410 gummy bear implant, compared to current silicone gel implant technology. He also clarifies who is an ideal patient for the Style 410, and who should consider a smoother round silicone implant."

I was unable to load this video, but have heard him and other investigators speak in person about the "gummy bears."

Bottom line is the implant must fit "hand in glove" wihtin the implant pocket because they are teardrop shaped and textured.  If the skin is loose (i.e. many WLS patients)  then the implant can shift and diusplace, or generally appear odd.

I know of 3 WLS patients who have contacted me with problems specifically related to the "gummy bear implant."

Here are the criteria for getting the McGhan implants:

You have to have 5 MRI scans done !
