BA/BL before pregnant?

Hi guys.

I am still in my WL stage of this journey but I am trying to save up for plastics now. I know they say wait to have your TT until after you are done with kids... which bums me out some because I hate this hanging skin but one of the big reasons I got WLS was so I could be healthy and have a baby. But I haven't heard much about waiting on having a BA/BL. I thought that I would get the TT and BA/BL all done at once but I wondered about the pregnancy thing. I might get them done at different times if pregnancy doesn't affect the BA/BL as much. Oh and this question might seem silly but I actually don't know the answer.. can you breastfeed after you have had a BA/BL?
Thanks in advance!

You will have to meet with your PS and discuss your options since all of our bodies are different.

I'm 27 and I lost 170 before I met with my PS. I wanted to have BA/BL and my arms done. After talking to her she said that getting pregnant will stretch out the BL, she would recommend after seeing my extra skin that I wait until after kids to work on the girls and go ahead and get at TT and my arms done.

Even though having babies will stretch out the TT it won't stretch it out 170 pounds worth. I couldn't be happier with the results. It is the first time in my life that I am not covering up my stomach and arms.

And even when I do get pregnant I won't be embarrased to show my husband, mom, or sisters my pregnant belly now. So I know that I will be stretching out the muscle tightening that they do, but even just they skin they cut off gave me great results.

Best of luck to you and keep us posted when the time does come and what you decide to do.

I got the opposite advice, which goes to show that all plastic surgeons will have a bit different take on things. My surgeon said that he wouldn't do a TT until after I had kids, but he did a brachioplasty/breast lift/augmentation last summer. I plan to start trying to get pregnant in a few months. I know my boobs will change, but I could not STAND the sagginess before. After a couple of kids, I'll do tummy and then thighs!

After I had RNY, it made me VERY fertile! I got pregnant unexpectedly, 5 months post-op.  Then, when my child was 5 months old, I got pregnant again!  Having 2 babies back to back made my tummy and breasts sag more than the 100+ lbs I lost!

WAIT WAIT WAIT! Don't waste your money on PS surgery until you are DONE with having kids!

I'm done having kids and saving for PS now

Good luck!
Ash :)

I'm with Ashley on this one.  My two postop pregnancies did WAY more damage to my physical appearance than being obese did.  After one baby in 2004 then WLS in 2005 my tummy was not bad at all.  My boobs weren't huge, but they were bearable.  Two babies later I am a train wreck! I would soooo not waste your money on PS before.  I did have a friend who had a tt before having a baby, and while she is not back to her pre-plastic belly the pregnancy really changed her results.
About nursing, it is difficult to breastfeed after a lift because tissue is removed.  It is more doable with implants alone.

P.S. check out the postop pregnancy board.  It is a great source of information.
