And I'm starting to get really nervous.  I've heard varying stories about the pain post-op, etc.

I just curious for those of you that have had it done, is there anything you did to make your recovery easier or wish you would have done?

Hi
Congrats on your upcoming surgery.
Listen to your dr's orders.........don't try to stand up straight too soon........get plenty of rest and LOTS of protein.
I had basically no pain after my TT....it was a very easy recovery for me.

Best wishes on your procedure and recovery

Take Lanyards with you for holding the drains.  I took 6, but only needed two, one for shower and one for post shower while the other one dries.

Take it easy and slow.  Don't strain while you're going to the bathrooom - if you've had muscle tightening, it can cause problems.  My PCP told me this initially.  I got "Smooth" tea from Whole foods it was perfect because it doesn't cause cramping or any discomfort.  It works with your body.

Also have lots and lots of pillow if you're not going to be sleeping in a recliner.  I didn't have a recliner, so I used two pillows under my knees and 4 behind my back/head. It made it like a recliner - in bed.  Getting in and out of bed can be a challenge, again just take it slowly.

I forgot to mention that the pain is totally manageable with pain meds.  I used pain meds while in the hospital, but once I got to the hotel, at 3 days post op, I was using only Ibuprofen.  It worked.
