Hello,
I had gastric by pass on Oct 12, 2009. I have been doing great I have lost 60lbs. I developed a hernia from an appendectomy that  I had in June. My intestines were protruding making surgery a must. The surgeon mentioned that he was going to give me a freebie and make the previous scar smaller. I was excited. Here is the question- The day of the" out patient" procedure I  met with the surgeon and he mentioned that he was going to do some lipo while he repaired the hernia. I thought he was joking, but I am not sure. How can I tell if lipo was performed. I didn't have a chance to ask him because I had fluid on my lungs and what was suppose to be out patient ended up being over night. A lot of what happened has just become clear again due to the pain meds. I will ask him on Monday when I go yo have the drain removed. I also had on a garment belt when I woke up, but the nurses took it off am I suppose to keep it on? How soon can you see the results of lipo?

Give your dr a call and get your questions answered.  You don't have to wait until Monday - but dr has no way of knowing you have questions unless you ask them.

From my recent experience with Lipo, I can say you would probably be really sore in the area (for at least 2-3 weeks)  that was lipo'd and somewhat swollen. My PS said that 85% of results would be seen within 3 months but can be swollen for about 6 months depending on your body. I had mine done Dec. 5 and can say I tried to jog for the first time today and felt like sand bags on my flanks each step so I still feel the lipo'd area.
