TT Scheduled for February 25th!
Like most others on this forum, this has been a long long road for me. I've been very patient in waiting to finally have this done. My ex-husband will tell you that it's the ONLY time he's seen me so patient.
I was recommended to my surgeon, Dr. Berger in Burbank, CA, by a family member who worked with him in the hospital. He was great! Made me feel more comfortable than other plastic surgeons I've seen in the past. They submitted to the insurance for an overnight stay and panni removal. That was approved and then I was quoted a price to upgrade to a TT.
I've had to reschedule the actual surgery date a couple of times because of work reasons (I work in employee health benefits and having surgery in the middle of open enrollment probably wasn't a good idea. lol). My approval ends February 28th and we've finally settled on a date of February 25th (he only does hospital surgeries on Thursdays - other days is outpatient facility.)
I tried and struggled and couldn't figure out how to pay for the upgrade. It was -only- $3,200 but I also had to factor in the $2,000 that my high deductible HSA plan requires (Out-of-pocket max is $2,500 including deductible.)
My ex-hubby (now boyfriend again...life's funny that way. lol) was willing to help me with the $1,000 deposit that I needed for the upgrade but I still had to come up with the rest.
Just when I thought that I would have to resign to panni removal only I received my W2's. Never even thinking about possibly using my tax refund to fund my surgery...filed taxes yesterday and between State and Federal I have enough to cover my upgrade and a little extra to help me while out on disability!
I could barely sleep last night realizing that this was actually going to be happening. As soon as I filed my taxes yesterday and saw the refund amount I started doing what any girl who is pms'ing does...started crying. lol
I have wonderful family to help post-op - my step-mom was an operating room nurse up until last year and had previously worked with my plastic surgeon at the hospital. I'm going to go home to her house for the weekend and then my ex-hubby will help me for another couple of days if needed. I'm told that it's just like having a c-section, however, I've never had one so I can't attest to that. I'm sure my sister won't let me complain, though, because she's had 3 c-sections (vertical incision on all 3.)
Just wanted to share my story! Everyone has great questions and comments and suggestions that I haven't had to post barely anything because it's all already there. So awesome.
I have a pretty large panni and as soon as I get home tonight I'm going to take some before pictures and then again the morning of surgery. I remember how much seeing other people's photos helped me when I had gastric bypass and seeing the photos of other TT's helps ease my worries, too.
Cheers! :)

Good luck on your TT towards the end of Feb....I myself am having my TT next Wednesday, yes, a week from today...Im getting very anxious....because I am nervous about what I am going to feel like when I wake up. Oh, I am also having my side back fat removed (don't have a clue what that is called) and a BL.....I will let you know how it goes....
