Hi everyone,

I am planning an extended tummy tuck with BL/BA at the end of February. My doctor says I can return to work after 10 days (I have an office job) - does this sound realistic? I consider myself pretty tolerant to pain and am really hoping I can return in 10 days with possibly working from home some towards the end of that 10 days. Thanks for any input.

Welcome! You'll find lots of great info here. Yeah you'll prob be fine with 10 days of work, I have been reading that many go bad after week.

What kind of implants are you getting? (i just went for my consult on Fri so I am interested!)

EDIT: I just saw the extended TT, I thought it was just BL/BA. Yeah I'd take 3 weeks off if possible. You may be ready at 2 but if you can afford 3 it may be workth taking.

I cannot imagine returnng to work that early.

I had an extended TT with hernia repair and brachioplasty and am taking 8 weeks off. The worst were weeks 3 to 5.  The swelling can be absolutely horrible during that time and the more you're up, the more you swell.  Also I had a lot of discomfort from my lipo of the arms.

If I were you, I'd take 3 weeks at least. The BL/BA is probably fine at 10 days but it's the extended TT will be the procedure you'll need more time off.

I haven't had surgery yet, but I don't think that is long enough. You will heal better if you give your body a time to rest and recuperate without pushing yourself. I hope that you can get the extra time.

I had a MTL and BL/BA and was back to work after 10 days. The MTL for me was much more painfull for me than my LBL. Just depends on how you heal I would guess. It's possible but you'll be extremely tired the first week or 2 after returning to work. If you work will allow you to take off longer and you can afford it I would take longer.

I had an anchor cut TT, BA/BL a little over two weeks ago.  I cant imagine returning to work right now even tho our work environment is completely different from one another.  I am taking off work for 8 weeks.  I am slowly getting out doing things, but it really wears me out to do so.  My issues are with my long lateral abdominal incision that runs from my breast bone down to the other incision.  The vertical incision does not bother me at all, nor do the breasts, so I think if I didnt have the long abd incision I could have probably returned to work.  The best advice I could give you is to wait and see how you feel.  Surgery takes a lot out of you so who knows how you will feel.

good luck, and keep us posted!!  Welcome to this wonderful board.  You will get lots of advice and support here.

Hi and welcome to the board.

I have a very high pain tolerance level and normally heal very well (most of my recoveries have been a breeze).  I can't imagine going back to work after 2 weeks with the TT.  The breasts are no problem....after 3 days you can go back.  If you are having muscle tightening I would suggest to you try to get at least 3 weeks off.

Everyone heals at different rates and have different pain tolerances. For me, after my tt with fleur de lis, I could've gone back to work in 10 days if I had a job like yours. But almost everyone I talked to that has had it done said they needed more time.
