Tummy tuck

I have been approved by my insurance for a panni.  When I was at the surgeon I also asked about atummy tuck.  He gave me a quote of $8000.  That was $5000 for the surgeon fee and $3000 for the anethesia.  The hospital stay and the OR room will be covered under what the insurance is paying for.  Is the $8000 an outrageous amount for a tummy tuck?

no, unfortunately- it can be very expensive!

I had quotes for a tummy tuck and breast lift for 9500-1200!

is that in addition to what your insurance is paying? are they paying a part of the Dr. portion. I was a total self pay . my friend had her panni covered she went home the same day and she had to pay an additional 3900.00 for the tummy Tuck (muscle tightening) cause the insurance only paid for the panni removal.
I had my TT done when I had my hysterectomy so the total hospital stay was picked up for the hysterectomy  and the gynecologist.
I had to pay an additional 2 hrs O.R. time 1200.00,
additional anesthesia 2 hrs 750.00
and the Plastic Surgeon was 3700.00
Total 5650.00
it also depends where you are getting it done I am in PA

I paid a total of $12,625 for my TT and BL/BA $10,000 for my PS and the rest for the surgery center/anesthesia.  I'm in PA.

Sounds extreme to me!  I had a panni covered by insurance, and paid for arms at the same time out of pocket, and only paid $2800.  It was all done outpt., that may be part of the difference.  Maybe shop around!

My Panni was approved by my insurance co and I stillhad to pay 5200.00 for a mini abdominoplasty and lipostuction. Great results...you get what you pay for!

$8000 sounds like a lot cause isn't the Dr. fee and anesthia paid by insurance if they are paying for panni? I would think $5000 is more reasonable.

Well the panni covers the doc fee for that procedure along with the hospital stay and anethesia.  But for the tummy tuck part the fees break down for the surgeon $5000 and $3000 for anethesia.  The office broke it down into how many hours each part costs and then they just billed the 3 hours for the panni and the other 3 hours for the tummy tuck is my responsibility.

From an outsiders perspective it still seems high. I've heard around $5K or a tad more but not that much. But you have to decide if the value is there. Good luck. I might get one second opinion and compare. And I would ask what they'd charge for the tummy tuck by itself and compare.

My panni is covered by my insurance (Aetna HSA) along with an overnight stay - my surgeon quoted me an additional $3,200 for the TT upgrade.  I'm in California.  My cost is slightly lower, however, as he has a professional relationship with a family member.

I guess it really is about who you know. lol

Good luck!
