Residency Programs
Wow, I just got off the phone with the Cosmetic Surgery Residency Program in my area. I still can't believe I was quoted for a TT and BL for under $10,000. I am still doing my research to determine if I would go to Dr. S in Mexico or get the procedure done here in the States.
Has anyone went through a Residency Program to get their plastics done?
Thanx

I had a TT with KU Residency program and would go there again if I wanted anymore. I am really happy with the results and my care. Just ask questions, like who would do the surgery what year they are in and how many have they done and make sure a senior will be there at all times. The Dr that oversaw my surgery was the Assistant Professor, Plastic Surgery and Crtified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I felt confident from day one.

Money order, cashier's check or Credit Card. Just tell them self pay. I think they had a company that would loan but, was not interested. I had the TT done and it was 4400.00. I could have added a breast lift for another 500 but wasn't up to doing both at the same time.

I went thru the resident program at mass general hospital in boston. i absolutely loved the program. i was hesitant at first and went thru several private PS appts for consults prior to going there.
i chose to stay in the states b/c i did not want to risk the possible complications that could occur once i got home and not being able to get back to see my doctor. with my age (51) i just didnt feel like it was a smart thing for me personally to do. so many people have had great success going out of the country but i wanted to find another solution that i would be happy with that could also save me money.
when mentioning the resident program to friends and family, i always got the raised eyebrow look...docs in training working on me??? no way!! what many people do not know is that when you have any kind of surgery in a large teaching hospital, there is a resident that does the surgery with the attending physician assisting. once i recognized this, it made me feel so much better about my decision.
i have had several surgeries now at the hospital...in november i had a lower face/neck lift and 2 weeks ago i had an anchor cut TT/ BL/BA. I got to meet the attending for both surgeries prior to the surgery and had the opportunity to investigate the background of all involved. with my face lift, i had the top facial plastic surgeon in boston in attendance. with my recent procedure, i had the chief of plastic surgery at tufts hosp in boston in attendance. it all went beautifully.
i have loved the care and attention that i received from the chief resident that performed all the procedures. he was as excited as i was and we remain in frequent communication via emails. i have no problems with getting my questions answered and never felt rushed when seeing him. i will do this program again in the future if i need surgery again.
as for the cost, i saved a significant amount of money. when getting a quote from the private PS's, for my tt/ba/bl i would pay around 17-20k and that did not include an overnight stay in the hospital. for my face lift, tt/ba/bl, i paid apprx 12k. this included an overnight stay for both surgeries. if i had included the face lift with the private plastic surg, it would have cost me close to 28k for everything. also, ive never had to pay an office fee or consult fee for the residency program. my consult fees for the private PS were 125-200 per visit.
i am thrilled with my results and could not be happier. please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. i also have pics of my before and after face lift posted and hopefully will post the remainder pics once the edema subsides.
good luck!
