Eating after TT or Panni?

For those of you who have undergone either of these procedures, did you have trouble eating afterward? Mine was Wed (5 days ago) and I'm finding it somewhat difficult to eat. I'm not sure if it is the swelling, the binder, or both, but I feel like things are getting stuck or are at least uncomfortable. The stuck is extremely rare for me and the discomfort is unusual. (Surgery was 5/08) Did anyone else experience this? If so, what did you do?
Thank you for any advice.

I have litterally had to relearn how to eat again, not sure why either but I definatly know how you feel! I did my soft bariatric diet again for about 2 weeks after my surger...I'm just now able to eat somewhat close to how I was before my TT 3 weeks ago today. Hang in there and give it time.

Thank you for sharing. Do you know why? I am doing lots of the soft stuff but crave veggies EEK. Did you notice it immediately when eating? I felt like my vitamins were even getting stuck...and we know we can't go without those.

I don't know why exactly, I have a theory but I have no medical reasoning behind...I think it's from the muscle tightening and everything being pulled tighter which may cause pressure on our pouches that we're not used to. I did notice it right away. even in the hospital I had no appetite and when they would make me eat all I could do was a bite or two...do you do chewable vitamins or capsules? I recently switched to Bariatric Advantage...It's the BEST! One chewable tablet 4 times a day instead of 14 pills everytime you turn around. They have a website if your curious.

Your theory makes sense. I had head hunger and wanted to graze at the hospital, but could only manage a few bites. I did make good use out of the patient fridge tho :)  Thank you for the vit. suggestion...I just can't do chewable (even as a kid) but it would make things easier if I could.  I just looked at your ticker...not sure when you had your gastric surgery, but our stats look similar.  I started at 227 and goal was 135 (which I am not at since the Panni on Wed, but the scale is moving in the right direction again.)

I always had a hard time with the chewable tylenol as a kid but I LOVED  my flinstone vits...and that is exactly what these bariatric advantage taste like to me so it works! Yeah our stats are really simular, I started at 233 in March 09  and was down to 140 by December when I had my TT. I'm now down to  132-135 depending on my swelling. I've definatly noticed my appetite kicking back in this last week...I'm having a hard time sticking to my rules, and avoiding grazing. It dosn't help that i'm still staying at my moms and they always keep trigger foods around the kitchen over here! Good luck and keep us posted!

I experienced this. I couldn't eat the same amounts as I could before the tummy tuck. It didn't last. After a couple of months things were back to normal as far as eating. I made sure I drank protein shakes in order to get my protein in and to aid in healing.

I agree with Renee, that loss of appetite didn't last long, enjoy it while it lasts, LOL!! I think the binder and meds have something to do with it, mainly the meds. Good luck, take your stool softeners and you will love your plastics!!

I didn't have a high appetite before with my sleeve now coupled with the sleeve and compression/swelling I just don't want to eat. I am trying to make myself.

Thank you all for your insight. For me this isn't a lack of appetite -- it's a stuck feeling. To avoid it, I eat less. I've even had it when waking .
