my head is swimming!
Thanks for that bit of information. Perhaps I can talk my PCP into removing my drains and caring for me after a week -
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I know your home situation and there is no way I could have done anything for a few days much less 1 withouth help and I didn't have a LBL. I preferred being in the clinic for almost 2 days. The hotel while I did get lonely there were people from here there and it wasn't too bad. I rested a lot which is what we need. If I had been home I think I would have rested less because of my kiddos.
Hang in there. I know it's a hard decision.

Leah, thanks sweetie...yeah, the idea of coming home the same day as the surgeries really freaks me out...and yeah, a day or two of him taking care of me, and then it would be, when's dinner, can you hold the cat while I give it fluids, and that would involve going up and down the steps, so I am really leaning towards mexico....just got to get a few more vacation days earned, I earn a day and 1/4 each month...LOL...talk to my PCP about doing a preop, if he is willing, etc....
thanks sweetie!

FYI - I had surgery here in the States and I stayed at an "after care facility" after each of my procedures. My surgeon was able to come and see me and check on me the first few days and I was able to rest and had 24hr medical supervision which gave me great peace of mind.
You might want to give it some thought if you decide to do your surgery close to home.
Best wishes on your decision.
