Well the question is in the subject heading : )
Just wondering because frankly the ones who do that technique here in the US are out of control pricey!

Thanks! : )

Hi Melissa,

Dr Sauceda does the Lockwood technique.  Here is a link to it on his website

Ted Lockwood was a pioneer in the area of plastic surgery, especially the body lift.  Although most of his patients were not WLS patients (this was before the procedures were being covered in large part through insurance) his techniques are still applicable.  I was lucky enough to observe his surgeries and meet with him at seminars before his untimely death.

The "high lateral tension" technique is now used by just about everybody for TT...I don't know anybody who does NOT use it for TT.  The technique really does not apply to patients having a body lift, because the cut goes all the way in a circle, so there are no "ends" of the incision to place "lateral tension" upon !

His main contribution was in identifying the SFS layer of the deep tissues, allowing body lifts and other lifts to be more effective.  Case #1 is a good example of using the SFS to use the TT incision to not only pull the tummy down but also lift the legs and thighs up. up  http://www.drlomonaco.com/houston-body-lift-surgery.shtml

This involves the use of permanent stitches, and as you can read on these boards, those permanent stitches sometimes are too close to the surface and have to come out.

Rather than shop for somebody that does this "technique" you should instead find a surgeon with experience working with WLS patients, whose results you find satisfactory.  I love Rocky Road ice cream, but i don't need to tell them how to make it.

What I'd done was search for someone who did the technique along with the experience of dealing with WLS patients.
However, I feel like he was expensive for just one procedure. It was $15,400 for just the LBL. I Also wanted the inner thighs (which he tried to talk me out of because he said that people are often disappointed with the results because they are not as dramatic as other surgeries...but I feel like I'm not stupid enough to get the surgery because i want something dramatic, i wanted a couple inches of lose fatty skin removed, knowing full well it was for contouring not drama!) and Eventually the arm lift (going down past my pits to the sides of my breasts because there is a hanging flap of pure skin there as well) and lastly I want a neck lift. He quoted me $87600 for a "neck/lower face lift". Truthfully I think for the LA area i could find someone with a better price on that and maybe more experience.
You can take a look at my profile for pics and see the hanging turkey neck ; ) and get an idea of the shape of the body for a LBL.

Anyway, so your post was informative, for sure, but I'm kind of confused on your stand point. You seem to be for the high tension technique, but are you just warning me about the permanent stitches? I don't actually come on here enough anymore to have read much about the complications with those. If they do come out, hasn't the body healed together enough by then to prevent any reopening or gaping?
Thanks for the advice! I'm still very undecided though I LOVED the after shape on a lot of those before and after pics on that website. Makes me ponder going to Texas!

I'm not sue of the prevailing prices for LBL in your area, but they are $12,000 here in Texas, although what each doc includes in that varies widely,

As for Lockwood's technique, you might ask the docs about their method of closure...as I said, Lockwood was controversial back in the early 90s...his techniques are really very mainstream these days for anybody who works with WLS patients.

I routinely use the deep, permanent stitches, but 5% of my patients end up needing one or more of them removed...sometimes many months later !  They are a necessary evil but again, I advise you to seek an experienced WLS plastic surgeon.

Have you checked out the directory here on OH ?
