Serious: Over vs Under

Personally, I prefer the more natural contour of an over...I think under looks odd. I would rather have my entire breast sag naturally and all together, than have a high implant and saggy breast tissue in front of it!

With regard to mammos...there are plenty of woman that have come before us, and the techs know how to scan an implanted breast properly.

Originally I adamantly wanted under the muscle and then I started doing research and did a 180 and decided on over for all the reasons everyone has listed; more natural looking- I do have skin and breast tissue and I didn't want to end up with the double bubble, when they sag I want the implants and my breast tissue to sag together. I lift weights and run and wanted my breasts to move ns naturally.  You can see more of the upper contour of the implant with overs I think especially if you are really thin but they are starting to do fat grafting around that area to soften the look.  After mine settle I may look into that.

I think it depends on your anatomy really.  I have unders and you cannot see any contours, they hang very naturally, and do move when I run.  I went with unders because that is what my Dr. recommended for me, and actually, you need to make sure what type of under you are getting.  Usually, what we consider unders are really partial unders.  My understanding is that few doctors do full unders (mine are partials).  Good luck!

I have silicone under the muscle. they look and feel natural.  I had no breast tissue so over's would have shown the implant through the skin.  I have pics on my profile.  I love them and I am very happy with the result.

I had my mammogram today and asked this very question.  She said if the implant is over they have to roll the implant to the back of the chest wall to get good pictures and the pressure of the machine on the moved implant could cause it to rupture.  But she went on to say that the machine they use applies about 45 pounds of pressure and the implants are built to withstand over 100 pounds of pressure and in the 22 years she's been doing mammograms she has never seen or heard of one rupturing due to mammography.  Hope this helps,
Cindy
