Hey Skinny Girls,

I just have a few questions.  The first thing is my employer switched Insurance companies.  They switched us to United Healthcare Choice Plus.  They will not cover my the rest of my surgeries needed.  So here is the the help part.  My great uncle is paying for the rest of my surgeries.  THe quote my doctor sent me is 17,317 dollars for a lowere body lift, medial thigh lift, and arm lift.   He will be doing them in his surgical suite.

My question is I know that I can use FMLA to protect my job while I am out of work.  I will be out about 10 weeks because he has to do the surgery in stages.  So here is the question.....

I have SUNLIFE FINANCIAL for my short term disability. CAN I USE IT?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure if you can or not, depends on their policy. My company uses MetLife for our short-term disability and they approved me for my LBL since it was deemed medically necessary. When I called MetLife to ask if it was covered they said they didn't cover cosmetic procedures but since mine was considered reconstructive it was. You just want make sure when you are dealing w/ them you keep referring to it as reconstructive surgery not cosmetic due to extreme weightloss after WLS.

Give them a call to find out, doesn't hurt anything. Good luck and you are a very lucky girl to have such a nice uncle who is willing to do that for you. My mom was my guardian angel who lent me the money to get my surgeries done.
