Hematoma horror (4 weeks post op LBL)

Hi.....I haven't been around much lately....been busy with company last week and most recently dealing with the complications of a fairly large hematoma.  I normally try to stay very positive and upbeat but I'm having trouble doing that today....

I have been struggling post op from my last round of plastics and am now after 4 difficult weeks I am dealing with the complication of a large hematoma that developed on my right butt cheek which the surgeon CUT OUT last Thursday.  OMG this is so nasty!      Wound care is so difficult (given the location), but we are managing.   Maybe I'll post a picture....not sure yet.

I'm so sore but don't want to take pain killers so I grin and bare it.  I am still suffering with terrible swelling....good lord sometimes the pain from the tightness due to swelling is just dreadful.  I can't sit comfortably, I can't lay down comfortably....UGH!!!!!!   Sometimes I do wish I did not do the Butt Augmentation with the LBL but still am trusting that in the end (no pun intended) I will be very happy with the results.  Now I guess I'll just have an added scar where the new skin has to grow in..

I have not been able to do any exercise since the beginning of December and I am starting to freak out because I don't want to gain any weight.

I'm feeling tired almost all of the time but I think that is my fault...I'm not getting in my protein.  I am normally so good about getting lots of protein and about loading up on protein pre and post surgery.  I did fantastic after each of my procedures except for this one.  One big difference is I did not power load with protein and I'm getting at least 50 grams a day less than I normally do.  I'm starting to think that the lack of protein is part of my problem.  Starting today I am going to load up on protein and I am going to order some "procare"...I know it taste nasty but I used it before and after my tummy tuck and I had the best recovery.....maybe that stuff really did help!?!?!

Thanks for letting me share my story....hopefully the next posting will be more upbeat and talking about how things are healing.  I hope, I hope, I hope!!!!

Oh Ruth ((((((hugs)))))) to you! I didn't realize actually how hard you are having it still! Poor thing. Good vibes coming your way so that all this clears up and you can get on with life. I agree that protein is huge piece of healing but I think exercise helps us too and seeing that you can't exercise only makes it worse. So sorry......

Thanks for the hugs!
Yeah it got pretty bad and I didn't want to complain so I just stayed quiet about it.
I'm up'ing my protein intake and hope it will help.

Ruth my heart goes out to you.

I'm sitting here 2 days after having a butt augmentation myself and can barely stand it.  I am wondering if it will be worth it and I didn't have to go through having a giant hematoma cut out.  I looked at myself while taking a shower today and I'm not even sure I like the way it looks, hopefully it's just really swollen.

Hang in there girl friend and vent away here when you need to.

Hi
I know what you mean about wondering if it is all worth it.....I questioned it too back about 3 weeks ago but decided it would be.  Of course that was before the hematoma took on a life of it's own.....but still I believe in the end I will say it was worth it.

Hang in there with the swelling it sort of comes and goes (for me anyway) but I keep reminding myself it is only temporary (hopefully not 12 months temporary!!!!!).

thank you for sharing Ruth!!!!  It's important to tell ALL, not just the good stuff.  We need to stay aware that there are risks involved and that this all isn't a bed of roses.  These are major surgeries with possible complications and weighing the risks and dealing with any problems that arise is part of the process.  Hope you heal fast and the pain goes away!!!  Wound care is definitely gross!!!  I feel for you, that is not fun!!!  Sending good vibes your way for a speedy recovery, hope the protein helps!!  Robin

Hi Robin,
Yep it is important to know the good, the bad, and the ugly.   I can honestly say I've experienced them all with various surgeries but for the most part it's been very good.

Thanks for the good vibes!!!

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It's one of the things we all worry about with plastics, and it sucks that you get to be one of (un)lucky ones.

I hope now that the hematoma has been dealt with, you can heal up quickly.
