Scar products

I have read so many things about scar removal/eraser products. I just wanted to hear people's experiences. I had a TT revision, BL/BA and mini inner thigh lift on Dec. 16th. I will not be cleared to put anything on them other than the brown tape until Jan. 22nd. I am most worried about the "mangled" look of my inner thighs. What works best for that area? CVS silicone strips, bio-oil, mederma, Vitamin E??? What is the time frame for the scar to relax a little, fade a little...anything...give me hope here guys!!!

I tried mederma and had a reaction to it, itchy and burning.  Right now I'm using bio oil, it is greasy but no side effects.  It's to early to tell if anything is working but it is helping combat the skin dryness.

Had my procedures on the same day as you.  My surgeon does'\n't believe in any of that stuff.  says its a waiste of money.  let it heal naturally.

I used the cvs strips for a wee****il my FX silicone strips came in. I have only used them for about 5 days so I haven't seen a whole lot of difference in thighs. Some areas of my TT look lighter though. I read that some think its the pressure of the strips against the scars that do most of the help to flatten and soften the scars....I can say that my thighs looked really puckered at the beginning but as the skin heals it seems flatter (before the silicone stuff was even started). So in the end...I am of no help to you yet :-). All I know is I have spent a small fortune on all this stuff and hope it works!

Aloha- Not surgicated yet so I shouldn't even be answering- but I'm a motormouth and I do have many MANY scars on my body! My surgeon's office gave me some of these samples:

Here's some anecdotal reviews:

http://scar-treatment-center.org/review.html

Maybe ask for some samples if the PS recommends anything?

Our surgical packet says the most important things were-

---Overall healing- LOTS of protein in ( I'm shooting for 125+g/day) and Vitamin C- 500 mg/day orally, basic wound care
---How you've healed from previous surgeries (I have surgical scars that are 28 years old and others that are 18 months old!)- if you tend to heal with flat, pale scars then you can expect that again - if you tend to form keloid scars, then you will probably  tend toward that redder, bumpier appearance.
---Sun avoidance- Protect your surgical scars for the first 12 months post op, with both clothing coverage AND 45+ sunblock, even under your swimsuit.

Congratulations, and expect improvement in scar appearance for up to 2 years post op!

A girlfriend of mine used Kelocote as soon as the wounds were healed and her scars healed BEAUTIFULLY. I'm ordering it for my upcoming plastics.

I had started using mederma but it was so expensive and went through that pretty fast since I had so many incisions.  I now use Vitamin E .  I spend more time massaging vitamin E on the front of my LBL and I hardly put any on my incision along the back, yet the scar on my back is 10 times better than the one in the front.  It's fading so much quicker.  Go figure.
