What did you wear???

I am getting a TT with an anchor cut next Friday, and I'm wondering what I should wear when I get home.

I was thinking sweat pants with a band versus elastic, but then thought about something like a housedress (robe) - but it gets darn cold here in January... so that's not really an option.

What did you wear that didn't put a lot of pressure on your mid-section?  I know I'll have the compression garment on - will that "protect" me from elastic, etc?  Could you even feel it through the garment?

Thanks!

I've been wearing a lot of drawsting capris and sweat pants. Also, light flannel sleep pants around the house. None of them have really bothered my middle any more than the compression garment itself.

Loose garments ..... Actually have been wearing my bigger sizes ...... So much more comfortable with the drains       I bought white T shirts as the binder was itchy on my skin..    Mens sleeveless ones work ... hard to find white womens sleeveless.

Stay warm and good luck

I had bought some size large sweats at Target last week, and last night thought I'd put them on and lounge around the house - they fell off of me - and I did a head slap like "what was I thinking?"... so I took them back and bought mediums.   I guess I was thinking the bigger the better, but they need to stay up... and they didn't have drawstrings.

Got some with drawstrings.  I have some big sweatshirts I'll be wearing too.

Thanks for the replies.  If it was warmer out I could wear a sundress... but I didn't want to be in a compression garment for the spring/summer months.  HOPEFULLY I'm out of it by then!  From what I've read about some people swelling for a long time - its hard to tell.

I wore to and from surgery, my pre WLS pajamas. I also wear long night gowns. You will need something that you can easily pin you drains to.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

Jody, for all my surgeries I wore my yoga pants. They are loose  and comfy and didn't have any problems w/ them hurting my incisions. Even after I was home I wore loose shorts/capri's (that was in the summer). I would go w/ loose sweats or yoga pants because like you said it gets cold here in MI and the last thing you want to be doing is shivering after that surgery. Honestly I don't think I felt my pants thru the compression garment.

I have been living in my  size small mens "wife beater" tank tops, my $7 thin cotton pants from Old Navy and an oversized hoodie sweatshirt...also from Old Navy, and thick socks.  I made sure to buy pants with pockets to lounge around the hosue in, but I found that you can't comfortably stuff the drains in your pockets. so I started pinning them to the bottom of my tank top and then pulling my panties up over just the tubes and letting the bulbs sort of dangle on the outside of my shirt and pants...but that was kind of a hassle to go to the bathroom without pulling on the drains and causing discomfort. The day before my drains came out my mom had a great idea. she took a peice of muslin and affixed a piece of velcro to each end and then I wore it on the outside of my binder above the waistband of my pants (like a belt) then we pinned the drain bulbs to the makeshift belt which allowed me to be able to pull my sweatshirt over the drains all together and kept the drains up away from the band of my pants so that it wasn't so easy to bump and pull on them when I needed to go to the rest room... I'm sure that was confusing but I'll try to get some pics posted eventually...anyway I wish she  had come up with that idea sooner because it really helped alot.
