Thanks everyone for your comments! My surgeon was Dr. Patricia Chavez in El Paso, TX, and she is in practice with her father, Dr. Pedro Chavez (http://www.pchavezplasticsurgery.com/index.html). They do all surgeries as a team. According to Dr. Chavez, it was not a mid-facelift  because no muscles were tightened in my cheek area. There are incisions in front of and behind my ears, but only the skin was manipulated in my mid face area. However, she did explain that the neck muscles were tightened and this included somehow tightening them where they connect to my upper jaw, right above my ears.  In addition, I had so much loose skin that there is still a tiny bit under my chin, but she will do a small revision in her office after everything has settled down. She told me this would happen even before the surgery.

I consulted with 4 other plastic surgeons (recommended by my bariatric surgeon). All but Dr. Chavez wanted to do EVERYTHING to my face, including browlift, midface lift, and lower blepharoplasty. Dr. Chavez was very straightforward and told me what those things would, and importantly would NOT do for my face at this time. For now, she recommended just the neck and upper eyelid work. So instead of paying $13,000-$16,000 dollars quoted by the other surgeons, I paid a $6,300 TOTAL, and got a much more natural result. They have a very modest office and thus do not charge inflated prices or do unneccesary procedures to maintain it.

Thank you for the clarification!  Although I don't totally understand it due to my lack of familiarity with all the various options, I just can't get over how fabulous you look - the results are amazing!!

Thank you! to tell the truth, I am amazed by the results myself. My surgeons were very skilled and did a great job. The other thing I had going for me was good skin for my age- just way too much. Through a combination of genetics, not smoking, and avoiding sun exposure all my life (thanks to my mother!), I was fortunate to have few wrinkles and no discoloration due to sun exposure.

I am amazed and completely taken back by the pics. I also have to tell you that this has scared the SH&% out of me. My biggest fear is that my face will fall in after my surgery. I believe I could be in real trouble if I lose the fat in my face. I know I can't afford any face work. My chin reminds me of yours in the before pics. For years it's been my chin that has bothered me the most (bad Genetics). I have to have my family and friends take pics of me standing on chairs so that it hides my chin. You look incredible.
