I had quite a bit of pain the first 12 hours due to my butt hurting and a migrane. As soon as Dr S found out though, he took care of it immediately! I was fine after that and was really just sore. I was off IV meds by day 2 and on Ibuprofen by day 4.
It was pretty good in the clinic while I was on IV meds but I was extremely sore when I was given oral meds. I used the Ibuprofin but it didn't work as well as Xstrenth Tylonel I started using later. If I had been thinking, I would have brought some of my Tylenol 3's...still use 1 to 2 when I go to bed at night since I a sore by then.

Pain management has not been an issue for me. After the morphine wore off about a day and half later I needed a pain med increase which worked fine over the next 24 hours and have been fine since. Dr asked me today if I was taking the pain meds and I said no that I am fine without them. Sore yes but painful no. Bruised royally, you bet but uncomfortable only.
I normally take Tylenol PM at night because of a neck issue but I have only taken 6 of them since I was here. And I normally take 2 at night. Could be becuase it is not being irritated at work.
I definitely agree about being careful mixing meds.
I encourage anyone that if your pain is not being controlled then let the nurse or Dr S know, I know I did and Paty fixed me right up with something stronger (sorry didnt ask and to be honest didnt to much care at that time) just wanted to SLEEP...and I did.
I dont think you are being a baby. Your pain sensitivity is what it is and you should not be in pain when it can be controlled.

Antonnette, so you are there right now? How are you feeling well enough to leave your room for meals and walk around a bit, go outside and enjoy the warmth? Do you have anyone with you?
I'm thinking about bringing my 17 year old daughter, but I've been hearing that people are doing just fine by themselves,

Melissa..yes I am. I fell pretty good, sore mostly but no pain to speak of. Yes I am comfortable enough to get out but it is kinda cold and I did not bring a jacket or coat. It has been in the high 20's and 30's so I have stayed in. I've gone down for breakfast each day. The temps are suppose to inrease to the 60's or close to it, over the next week or so. I believe in the 50's tomorrow so I plan to get out a bit tomorrow just for oxygen.
Rest for recovery to get back in the flow of life is my objective.
I dont have anyone with me but it is manageble alone for me. Paty one of the sweetest nurses come over after her shift at night at the clinic around 9:00am and helps you with showering, bandage changes and garments if you need her to.
Everyone fairs a little different and how much you have done might be a factor too. Also with others here we can be helpful to each other. Teri has the sweetest husband, chris, and has been a dear offering to pick things up and stuff. Applebee's delivers. Several other ladies are here in various phases. A few with their spouse and one with a sister. Dr S tries to put everyone close together.
Is your daughter interested in coming and is she nurturing? It is not a vacation for sure and if you have someone with you it is important for your recovery that they be there for you if they are going to be here.
