Crap, am I gonna lose my hair again post plastics?
Aloha All-
For those of you who had significant hair loss post WLS---- did you lose it again post plastics? I'm talking about the 30-40% loss experienced by some from about 3-6 months post op ( telogen effluvium) despite meeting protein and vitamin requirements.
Just need to know if I should put vaccuum bags, lint rollers and furball medicine on my shopping list.....not that it's going to stop me from going down this road!
Mahalo and I'm sure you all look great now! XOXOLori

Smooches back at you, Antonette- Thanks!
Seems unfortunately it's the hair on my head that departs and not other areas where I actually have to PAY for removal! I finally had my armpits lasered because the pocket in my pit is so deep from weight loss and muscle building that when I shave, I miss the center strip completely. Didn't realize it till one day I looked in the mirror with my arms up....and had about an inch strip of inch long hair right down the middle of my axilla. Eeeek!
Be well, and thanks for the response! XOLori

I definitely lost hair after WLS but not with PS.
Hope you are shedless too in the New Year. But I do agree, as with WLS, it would be sooooooo worth it to me!
I know what you mean about the underarm scoop. It can be hilarious watching my husband help me shave under my arms. I didnt even have hair after PS for months and then it started to grow in again but about half of what it use to be. I think I am going to switch to a hair cream remover.
Wonderful 2010!

We love because God first loved us (1John 4:19)
I'd probably be too ticklish to have my husband shave my pits!!!!
I got lucky, a nurse who works for a dermatologist travels with her own laser to my friend's home every 4-6 weeks and does hair removal, fraxel, teeth whitening, etc for a fraction of the cost of a med spa. When I got the quote at a spa ($1200-1500 for 5 treatments) I gave up on the idea til my friend told me about this nurse. I had 5 laser treatments for only $350- and since she goes by the half hour, I was able to start on my bikini line as well. That should be done by the next $70 treatment.
Thanks so much for responses and good humor! XOXOLori

I'm wondering the same thing! I lost a TON of hair post WLS and that was while taking Biotin, using special shampoo, meeting Protein and regular vits... I actually had bald spots right at my hairline near the temple...it totally sucked. My nurse in the hospital said that I might loose some because of the anistesia (sp) but that it shouldn't be near as bad as before.... so I guess I'll let you know in a month or so.
Although everyone is different, I will tell you about my experience. I had a sleeve 05/08 and it was six months before I started to lose my hair, not balding, but thinning. I had plastics in 02/09, 04/09 and 09/09 and my hair is JUST NOW back. It started growing back about 4 months ago. I used to have hair down to my waist and have cut it short and curly & I love it. Whatever happens with your hair, your plastics will be well worth it. Make sure to put stool softeners on your shopping list. Good luck!!
