My plastic surgeon is submitting to my insurance and I want to include a personal letter to the case reviewer. Any input on what I can include to help my case?

Also, how can I obtain approval for an abdominalplasty versus panni?

Be happy.

What insurance do you have?  I have BCBS and didn't need to write a letter but did make sure that we had letters from my WLS, my regular doctor and my physical therapist.  I had a portion of the surgery initially denied and all it took was a voicemail from me to have them reverse.  I would spend time making sure that you have written support from your medical providers over your own letter.

Just my two cents...

I have Cigna through the State of TN. I do have my pcp and my bariatric surgeon's documentation to accompany my file to create that history that is needed.

Be happy.

I ended up faxing in a hand written personal letter after they requested more info on my skin issues. I tried to stay as professional as possible but outlined every issue I was having so that they understood that this procedure would really be a medical benefit not just a vanity thing. I'm not sure what to tell you about the panni vs. the abdominoplasty deal... it's all in the medical codeing. To my knowledge my insurance approved a hernia repair and Panni,  but I got a full LBL and TT.
