Scars
Just curious to see if anyone knows the amount of time that scars take until you get to a point of "as good as it gets..." I am 8 weeks out and they are not terrible... but they could look better... wondering how much fading will occur at this point too. Thoughts?

It depends on how your body heals. Some people within 6 months you can't even see their scars and some people are like me(extremely fair skin, red hair & freckles) and it can take 2 or 3 years for the scars to fade. Most of my scars fade after about 3 years. It has been 4 years since my arm lift and you cannot see my scars from across a room. How has your body healed from previous scars? That will give you an idea about what to expect.
HI yes my aunt is fair skinned like you and she says it took her a few years but you can't even see her TT scars. I have tan skin, since I am half black. Any type of skin likes mine is prone to keyloids and bad scarring. So I am fairly satisfied with my scars at this point. Just want to get an idea of how long I will be massaging the scars and using scar treatment on them. Thanks for the info :)

I would say around 9 MONTHS! You are very early out!!! Use Mederma and Arnica to assust with scars.

Hi Hollibeth1,
I was using mederma but my surgeon said to stop because he believes that it makes skin turn pink so I stopped the mederma. I use vit. e capsules and silicon strips. The silicon does flatten, but after about a day of them I need the vitamin E especially around my upper abs. My scar gets really sore and I need the moisture from the oil. Thanks for reminding me that I still am early out... It seems longer than it has been somehow. I guess because I have come such a long way in the past two months.

Hi Martha,
Yes, I have tried the silicon strips. I use them some but my scars get really tight and I am concerned with gathering ect if I dont use the vitamin E at least once daily to keep the skin moist esp. in my upper abdomen inscision, Which doctor told me the scar is the worst because of the pressure to mend in that area (skin pulled together tightly). So makes sense to me why it is that way, but its still frustrating. I know that my scars are pretty new and they look different everyday. THe silicon makes them flatten (well on me they do). But the vit E takes the pigment out of them. I guess time will tell... thanks for your imput ;)
