abdominal swelling after bl/ba & brachioplasty
Hi all,
I took the plunge and had a bl/ba & brachioplasty this past Monday. My left arm is very swollen, but disturbingly my abdomen is swollen! I had a 29" waist going into the surgery, and now my waist is up to 33". No, I have not been eating like crazy. Actually, I find it tough to get my needed protein in every day since the surgery. Have any of you had abdominal swelling after work on your upper body, and if so, how long before it went away?
Thanks!
Mary

the swelling is very odd. I had a Brachioplasty with Lipo and my hands were so swollen, I couldn't hold the fork to eat. It improved, but slowly and I still get swollen.
I also had a TT and my thighs. ankles and feet were very swollen. My thighs being the worst. Our bodies try to heal themselves using collateral circulation after plastic surgery. Sometimes it takes a while for our bodies to find those other pathways of circulation after excess skin has been removed. It's usually the dependent or lower body parts that suffer. It will get better, but it may take a week or two or more. I'm 4 weeks out and my thighs are still pretty swollen.
It will get better. Limit you processed foods, any extra sodium, drink your water plus extra and lastly increase your protein. Rest Rest Rest with your feet higher than your heart also helps.
It will get better! Okay?

Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
It's normal. Get your water and protein in to help and add the 2 supplements Arnica and Bromelain to help with swelling. They have been instrumental in my recovery!
