Cicumferential lower body lift scheduled Feb. 12th--need advice
There are probably any of several reasons you didn't answer my question, but why --- why, why, why are you on a soft diet, still? And your protein intake seems extremely low .. . . and why do you need Tums nightly . . .
I'm still ery concerned about your overall health before undergong this major procedure. Why are there all of tthese issues? Does your rny surgeon and/or gp think it's okay for you to have this procedure?

My RNY surgeon is in Dehli, India. I did send him an e-mail this week with an update but so far, no answer. I have an appointment with my primary care physician 3 weeks before my surgery to get needed physical exam, EKG, bloodwork, for the surgery.
I just have never gotten back to eating "normally" in the two plus years since my RNY. I get queasy if I eat too much, still dump on sugar and fats, can't eat "dense" foods such as meat unless it is really moist. I chew meat up really well before I swallow or it feels like it get stuck.
I have had CT scans since surgery (kidney stone and gallbladder issues) and everything looks fine regarding my RNY.
I seldom have a real appetite. I try to snack throughout the day--a handful of almonds, soynuts, a protein bar eaten slowly over half an hour, yogurt daily, cottage cheese almost every day, fresh fruit to keep me regular. I do get in about 1000 calories a day--sometimes more if I eat some pretzels or snack crackers (my guilty secret are White Cheddar Cheezits).
I am lactose intolerant and cannot do milk or shakes. Soy milk makes me ill. Eggs also make me sick but I try to eat at least 2 eggs twice a month in the form of an omelette. I get nauseous but Tums usually resolves that.
So I really DO try to keep food in my system and try to get 80-100 grams of protein a day. I don't drink much water because then I don't want food---I get two cups of coffee in and maybe 2-3 cups of tea in a day. Ho****er works better for me than cold--cold anything makes my stomach hurt.
But all of my blood levels look fine---vitamins, minerals, protein is a little low, sugar levels are below 80 every morning, I am good on iron, potassium, etc. Other than being low energy and the nausea if I try to eat a full meal, I feel good.

I was off 3 weeks and did fine. The energy drain was terrible though. Sitting was fine by that point.
YES, get stool softeners and use them. Best thing I did. It was about 10 days before i could sit on the toilet.
I had no problems with eating but I also went back to basics. Focused on eggs and such, got my protein in to help with healing.
My pain was totally manageable. I was off pain killers after about 10 days. The first 10 days are pretty uncomfortable but you come around pretty quick after that.
Best of luck with your surgery.

Ummm----if you could not sit on the toilet, how did you "go"? Adult diapers? I am being serious--when I was morbidly obese I work them and would gladly wear them again if necessary.
I cannot eat much in the way of eggs--they still make me sick. I can do maybe 1-2 egg omelette but end up throwing away at least part of it every time.
I will go get some stool softeners--I have not had to use them because I focus on getting fiber such as oatmeal or stewed apples in daily. But if you think they are a good idea, I will get some. My morning coffee is usually the best laxative though! Two cups and I am off to the bathroom!
