To do - or not to do - an Anchor Tummy Tuck

I am scheduled to have my TT on Jan 15th - and I'm still torn on whether I want the Anchor TT or just an upgraded TT from a panniculectomy.  The main reason - is I don't want the scar going down my stomach.

I would like to hear from people who have, and have not had an anchor TT and let me know if they are happy with their decision.  If you didn't have an Anchor - do you wish you did?

If you DON'T have an anchor, can you still get the muscle tightening?

The surgeon said he thought I wouldn't be happy unless I had one, but I've seen SO many people on here who haven't had one and they look great.  I have my pre-op appt tomorrow and my final pre-op Dr visit on Wed, and I have to be decided by then.

I was going to go to Dr Sauceda and have all my work done, but because of finances right now, and my insurance will pay for my panniculectomy, I can upgrade to a full TT much easier right now.  Dr S said i didn't need the anchor based on my pics.

HELP  - I need some info and guidance.

Thanks!

I think I would have had a anchor cut if I had insisted on keeping my belly button, but since I didn't, it worked out for me.

Before 09/2005 BMI:57.5
After   09/2007  BMI.28.9
Now    09/2012 BMI 46.4

I had a LBL in Oct.and wish I had the Anchor.I am nice and flat while standing but still have a little loose skin between my breast and bellybutton when I bend or sit.I am l very happy with my results and realize I will never be perfect but if I had it to do over I would take the scar for the tightness.

I didn't do the anchor cut but probably could have used one. I really didn't want to have the long vertical incision and my surgeon didn't even mention it. I'm happy w/ the results that I got. I still have some extra skin when I'm sitting and don'****ch my posture. That being said, when I'm laying flat there is no issue and will still feel comfortable wearing a bikini when I go to Florida for spring break. For me the extra scar wasn't worth getting a little bit tighter tummy.

Hi!
First let me say I did end up having the Anchor Cut and I am so glad I did!
I had a lot of laxity above the belly button and on my sides.  While a traditional TT will pull down the skin it does not pull it in from the sides......you get the best hour glass shape the Anchor Cut.
For almost 8 or 9 months while I was doing my own research I thought for sure I was having a traditional TT.....it always boggled my mind how the surgeon would remove the skin from the sides if he was only pulling it down..... Anyhow it wasn't until I met with the very last surgeon when he recommended the Anchor Cut and explained (and showed my pictures) how I'd get better results.  It made sense to me so I decided to go for it and gotta say I'm thrilled with my results!!!

My surgeon even showed me a couple of pictures of woman who originally had the traditional cut and later decided to re-do it with the anchor cut because they still had loose skin above the belly button and on their sides.

Best wishes on your decision....it's a tough one....

I did not have an anchor cut, but still had muscle repair...extra tight! My doctor in Atlanta at Artisan Plastic Surgery will not even do anchor cuts! I am happy with my results, but let me warn you if you have lots of deep stretch marks like me any type cut will give a little...just happens that way I guess....

I had an anchor cut tummy tuck on 12/17, and I'm already thrilled with my results and very glad that I did go with the anchor cut!

I had TT w/anchor cut Nov 4th and I am very happy with it. I don't think it would've looked as good if I didn't.

I also had the anchor cut and I'm glad that I did. I would have definitely had the muffin top if I hadn't gone with the anchor cut. I knew that I did not want to be left with all of my extra skin on my sides and above my belly button.
