I have so many questions to ask i am considering dr s. and i am so not knowledgeable about travel and  how he does things.

what i do know is that the amount of work i need one will be over 6,000.00 did you have to pay the entire balance upfront?  Does dr. s take u.s medical insurance ( ihave blue cross blue shield for the state of nc. i am a state employee) did you have to get a passport or did you have one already. how expensive was your flight to monterrey mexico (round trip)  how many days does  he forsee youstaying therefore?

i will probably have more questions later on.

How are you feeling now? any drains? how do the stiches look, were u given compression garments? do you have meds for pain? Did the dr. fill the perscription or did you find a pharmacy there to fill it?

if anyof my questions are too personal please say so i understand totally..

thanks for your time.

Sherry

Hi Sherry!
I'll try to answer your questions.
I am 4 weeks post op with Dr. Sauceda.

You have to pay all the amount of the surgery on the day before surgery.  Wire Transfer or Cashier's Check.  He doesn't take medical insurance of any kind.  You do have to get a passport since you're traveling outside the US.  It really depends on where you live as to the price of your flight.  Mine was $488.00 round trip from Denver to Monterrey.  Dr. Sauceda gave me cash for my flight when I arrived there.  But he prefers that you subtract the amount of your flight from your payment to him.  I forgot to do that when I wired him the money.  If your surgery is $6K or more, he will pay for your flight up to $600.00 and he will pay for your hotel stay at the Hampton Inn.  The length of stay depends entirely on what procedures you get done.  I had an extended Tummy Tuck and Brachioplasty and I was asked to stay 12 days.  I stayed 13.  He provides 2 compression garments as part of the price of your surgery.  You are given all your meds and dressing change materials while in Mexico.  One of his nurses comes to the hotel room every morning to help you shower and get into your clean garment.  He will provide the meds, you don't have to buy them while you're there.  I did however, buy some extra for home use.  Any other questions, feel free to PM me.  I know you were asking the original poster, but I thought I'd answer.

btw, I had 4 drains and came home with one.  I removed it myself.  I also came home with my sutures in my arms and an RN friend of mine removed those at 3 weeks.  I have follow up with my PCP here in Denver.  It's important to have someone at home who is willing to help you if you have any complications.  I saw my PCP today for my 4 week follow up and everything looks great!  Dr. Sauceda's incisions are very clean, straight and thin.  I am very impressed with the work he did on my body and am returning next fall for the rest of my procedures.

He's skilled, kind and everything everyone has ever said about him.  He's truly a blessing!
