Is there anything special I should be doing for wound care?  how are you all taking care of the surgical site afterwards?  I still have steri-strips adhesive over the incision sites.  what comes next?  previous to the surgery, my doctor said that he didn't recommend any of the dermacare products.  just keep it clean and fresh air.  any other ideas?

My PS has us put a neosporin type product on the incisions up to 3 weeks then use silicone strips / gels once incisions are completely close. Vitamin E too.

According to my surgeon, the best approach is to keep the incision dry and clean, unless there is some irritation,  she stated it was best not to use any cream type material since it is desirable to keep the incision dry so it heals properly. Showers are ok as longs as you dry the area after you shower.

Hope this helps.

I do not have steri strips.   Disolveable stitches.  Showering daily with Dial soap.     Healing nicely

After the steri-strips come off you continue to shower, pat yourself dry (do not rub) and then I've always been told to apply neosporian for about 2-3 weeks.  After that my current surgeon has me use Vitamin E.  I've also used Mederma and was very happy with the results.
I tried ScarZone and did not like it at all...did nothing to improve my scars.

Be sure to ask your surgeon what he/she recommends.

Depending on the area I have used silicone strips on top of the cream the help keep the scars flat.  I didn't need them after my TT...the incisions healed perfectly flat but I think I will need them now after my LBL....the incision going along the side looks a little raised but I'll wait a couple more days before I decide.

Hope that helps some....

My PS told me to use Polysporin on the incisions for the first couple of weeks, then she told me to use a good moisterizer, so I bought some with Vit E and Coco Butter.  She told me at my 4 week post op to begin massaging the incisions.  I'm still using the polysporin on some of the parts of the incision that look red.

This was mentioned a while back and it works!  After your incision has healed of course. I rub the scars with Avon's Moisture Therapy (the one with the Vitamin A C E)  My scars are really really getting less noticable.
