Exercise post op: the good, the bad, and the ugly

HI Tamera,

The running is the worst of the exercises, even though some of them are more cardiovacularly challenging. The first 5 minutes really suck, but then everything kind of goes numb. I know that sounds weird, but lipo areas are kind of numb anyway. At that point, its really not that bad.  The lipo areas little more sore (but not painful) after exercising, and by the next morning, it doesn't really feel like anything...until I exercise again!

Please keep us up to date on your exercise progress.  I'm a gym rat and I KNOW it's going to be tough for me to stay away long.

What kind of strength training are going to start back with?

thanx

Hi Mark,

I did a little bit of strength training yesterday. I did some very light crunches, nothing fancy, chest press @ 75% of what I did before PS, bicep curls, and tricep dips. I tried to do assisted pull ups, but on the first one, my tummy immediately said "NO!" it was pulling something it shouldn't. Strange. I didn't think there was much ab involvement in that one. The same thing happened with push ups. So, those exercises are on hiatus.

Thanks for posting this! It's really been a worry to me as I contemplate my surgery in June that I will have to lay off exercise for what seems to be too long for me to bear. There is hope! Hope the rest of your recovery is smooth-
