How long do you wear your compression garment?

I have been wearing my stage 2 all day and then my stage 1 to sleep in because by the end of the day the stage 2 sometimes gets a little tight.  Is it "normal" to feel more "secure" when wearing a garment than not?  I haven't really gone without one on since I recieved my stage 2 in the mail and didn't have to wait for the one to be laundered.  I find that if I have one off for any length of time I start to swell.  I admit that I haven't tried this in a couple of weeks though.  I am 5 weeks out from my TT today, so do you go without a garment on for any length of time?

I was given 2 sets of compression garments, and I wore them 24/7 for 8 weeks even though I only had to wear them 6 weeks.  I did occasionally go without it at night, and Dr Sauceda gave me the ok to do that . If I have a bad swelling day now, I will wear it at night to help control that.

My doc said at least 6 weeks.  I'm 4 weeks out and now wearing any kind of support garment like Spanx or Flexies which I already had on hand.  I go back to work next week and would love to not have to wear them but I suspect that if I do, I may not make through the day without being uncomfortable.

Good luck!

I'm 3.5 months out from my TT and I wear it every day.  It did the trick with keeping away the swelling  so it was well worth wearing in my opinion.  I would not wear one for about an hour when showering.  One day I tried to go without it....went to the store for a few mins and by 5pm I was so puffy for the first time that got back into the garment and never tried that again....LOL.    After about 2 months I did sleep some nights without a garment.

Right now I'm only 3 weeks out from the LBL and my butt is VERY swollen.....I'm wearing my compression garment and starting to wonder if maybe I need a smaller one to get the swelling down around my butt.

They are not fun to wear but I believe 100% they help.

Stage 1 usually has a zipper/velcro so you can get in & out without pulling on stiches & is not quite as tight as Stage 2. My Stage 1 I wear at night along with a binder. I find it makes a difference with swelling. I'm 9 weeks and unless I'm "intimate" I wear mine 24/7 except for shower & 1 hr after that.

my PS says 6 weeks but I will wear it about 6 months it doesn't bother me, for my TT I wore 6 months then my butt lift 6 months and now I just had some lipo and a Brachioplasty and I will wear my arm garments for 6 months, it keeps the swelling down and helps the skin adhere to the muscle so I have been told I don't know if it really works but it doesn't bother me to wear  them

I don't know about the garments other wear but OMG. my "girl parts" are squished thru the crotchless hole and it is so uncomfortable.  I am looking forward to 6 weeks when I can take it off and look normal down there again.  Dr. S. told me there is no medical reason to wear the garment past 6 weeks but I guess it is an individual decision.
