After years of not seeing my belly button, I wondered the same thing. My original was moved during my lbl. I asked my best friend (who has always been skinny) a couple of weeks ago where her belly button is, since mine seemed kinda high to me. I don't know if it's in the right place, but mine is in the same place as hers, so I quit worrying about it. If you find the top of both hip bones, it's at that height, in the middle. I figure if it still seems high to me then I'll pierce it and wear a long sparkly dangle when I wear my bikini to draw the eye down to make it seem lower.
The surgeon measures and marks where the new belly button should go. I don't remember what it is now but everything usually is measured and has a "proper" location. Just like when they measure the breast for breast lifts and determine how high the areola should be lifted. My belly button is my own and was just moved up to it's new location. It's nice and round.
well thats why your dr marks you before surgery...everyone is different it depends on how much skin they are removing because they actually pull you belly skin down and make new hole for belly button......mine is in the same spot it was before but its a different hole....my dr was awesome dr chapin in pa.....i have heard of some horror stories about how people dont like their new belly button...but mine belly button is fine where it is...its just a little smaller....patty
