BoTax Defeated

The proposed 5% tax on cosmetic surgery has been removed for the senate's health care reform bill. Since it is not included in the house version of the bill, it is highly unlikely that it will be included in the final version of the bill following reconciliation. Many thanks to all those that contacted their representatives to oppose this tax.

For those that tan, the senate bill does include a 10% user paid tax on tanning salon. Just another good reason to save your skin from UV exposure.

For those interested,  my office will be planning a series of new "Plastic Surgery Support Group" meetings in 2010 where I will be speaking about various topics relevant to the weight loss community and where those interested in plastic surgery can meet others that have already started their reconstructive journey. More information to follow.

Best wishes to all this holiday season.

Thanks for the heads up about the bill.  I have more work I want to get done.
