drains are gone

All the stitches are out. No more staples and best of all no drains. The stitches and staples actually hurt more than the drains coming out. I was prepared for it to be so much worse than it was. I did take my pain meds before they started. I am sure that helped some. It is such a relief not to have the drains. I just have to give everything time to heal. I have to say it has not been as hard as I expected. I won't say it was easy but I have had much tougher surgeries. I worry now that the next one will be my worst. I am trying to get insurance help on the tummy. Insurance may be the hardest part.

Woo Hoo for no drains!! I have never had staples of any kind, but have heard that they can hurt coming out.

Good luck with the insurance.

I go see my surgeon today, 6 days post op but I don't think he will take out the drains yet, I still have a lot of drainage.  I too expected the recuperation to be much more difficult than it actually is.  Its very uncomfortable but not painful per se.
enjoy the new look.

Getting the drains out was the best feeling in the world.  Hated having them.  I had 6 and if felt like a tool belt.  LOL
