pain from drain removal

I, too, think there must be many variables.  It has never hurt me when they were removed following two surgeries.  A friend of mine who had a brachio said she also virtually passed out it was so painful - and she is not a wimpy kinda gal.  She said she just screamed out & it was shocking it hurt her so bad.  But most times, people here have said it didn't hurt.  One of my surgeons said he had a "little trick" when removing them:  he cut and separated the drain line tubing from the bulb first so there was no suction when pulling them out.  Don't know if that helped or not but you might suggest it.  It can't hurt.

I  am so worried about getting mine removed Monday. They have stopped draining but the doctors office said its ok to wait. I hope they numb mine.

Susie,
They really don't hurt, it's an odd sensation, but there isn't any pain.

I thought it would hurt but really did not it felt weird and especially when I saw how long the drain was but not pain.
