for those that have had a TT, when you had the drains removed, was it painful?  When I had my lower face/neck lift, I had two drains out of the back part of my neck.  When he clipped the sutures and pulled the drains out (they ran underneath my ***** I about fainted in the bed, literally.

im having a TT/BL/BA in Jan and just getting mentally psyched ahead of time!

So funny you asked that.  I had my TT 2 weeks ago and was wanting the drains out, but TERRIFIED it was gonna hurt! I had them out yesterday and it was not painful.  It felt weird and there was a little cramping AFTER he took them out for like a minute, but that was it.  I was so nervous, but I must say, not bad at all!

Hi Kim,

I can honestly say that if I hadn't been watching,  wouldn't have known that they were even taking it out. I felt nothing at all. I was surprised how long it was!!

I've had drains removed from my breasts, arms, tummy tuck and now my LBL....never any pain just a weird feeling as it uncurls from under you tummy kin.  You'll be fine!

I can see why the face might be painful(it's much thinner skin and less of a fat pad)  but I don't think you'll have any problem with the TT drains.  Just take a deep breathe when the surgeon is going to pull the drain out.

Best wishes

Mine were not painful. There was a slight burning sensation but was really quick. I have been told though if the drain is caught or starts to mend within then it can be painful but not common.

No pain really, just more of a weird sensation. The one I had the most issues w/ and borderlined on being painful was the one after my LBL that was in the longest - 6 weeks. But by that time the area where the sutures were and the hole in my thigh were very irratated so I think that's why it hurt more. I've found the longer they are in the more burning and funny sensation you'll have.

It seems like there are different responses.  I think sometimes it depends on how the surgeon places them, etc.  I've had several drains with different surgeries.  Some felt different than others.  A couple of times I felt a "stinging" feeling when they came out.  That is about the extent of pain I have had.  Mostly just "weird" feelings.

If you are feeling anxious about it, why not take a pain pill before you go?  If you need it, you will have it on board, it you don't need it....oh well!!!

Good luck...you will be fine!

Ok, I hate to be the loner, but mine hurt like an SOB coming out, and that was after the site was numbed.  BUT I wish you pain free removal!
