I had my surgery LBL on Sept 3rd so over 3 months and I still have numbness.  It was about 6 weeks when I really started to notice the swelling go down.  Are you still wearing your binder?  Mine wasn't tight enough at first, but once I got one that was the right size and wore it for a bit, I noticed the swelling went down quickly.

I'm 3.5 months out from TT still VERY numb but no swelling (I really have not had any swelling from my TT).

It's common to have numbness and swelling last anywhere from 3-6 months and even longer...some folks here are close to a year out and just starting to report the swelling has stopped.  Hate to be the a downer but some folks cannot get into their pre-surgery clothes for months.  It doesn't happen that way for every but some folks have it worse.  If you had lipo you can expect it to be worse.

I'm sure it's not what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I am too early out to give my experience with TT but when I had my c-section many many years ago, it took years to get full sensation back in the incision area...Good luck to you!

I'm two years out from a TT w/hernia repair, mesh and MR and I'm still almost completely  numb across the entire front of my stomach.  Basically, wherever a full panty would touch in the front is where I'm numb, hip to hip.  I'm assuming it will always be like that.  Not happy about it, but it's tolerable.

I'm 6 months out today and still swell.  Not as much as the beginning, but it's there. My drs told me that some may swell up to a year.  I also have a little numbness but not too much.

I was going to ask about the numbness myself.   I am numb and also have had "lumps" above my horitzontal scar.   I will also get hard places between my belly button and scar area along the vertical incision line.   I guess it is just really tight swelling, but it is deep - I don't know if that makes sense or not.  Usually a massage at night will help the tight area to relax a bit.   But it is a wierd feeling the skin and top layers numb and the lumps underneath.  Anyone else had "lumps"?

I'm 5 weeks out today and can only fit into two pair of my pre-surgery pants (size 8).  It is so wierd that I could stuff that big ole belly in my jeans before and now with a flat belly can not get my pants buttoned around my waist!  I'm wishing I had lipo too because I'm thinking  - now where did these love handles come from . . . .

I am almost 5 years out from my tt and still am numb in areas.  I got a tattoo around my belly button in Sept. 08 and I did not feel most of it in the area between my belly button and incision line.  The only time it bothers me is when I notice a bruise and cannot remember getting it because I did not feel it at the time.  I am not worried about it, my cousin had a c-section 18 years ago and she is still numb in the same area.

Hi Tazfan, I would love to see what the scar looks like 5 years out!!!  Any chance you can take a picture of your scar line?  Thanks, Robin

My doc said there would always be some numbness as he cut into nerves.  I don't mind it.  Feels weird but doesn't hurt.  I have also had to have fluid aspirated four times as I was getting a swelling after surgery that indicated fluid leaking into the area.  It doesn't hurt at all and if you get it all you have a better chance of a flatter stomach.  Otherwise, my doc said  you can get a seroma that will get hard.
