I was done on a monday and I went for my post=op visit 2 days later  he removed my drains & ace bandages and replaced them with a compression garmenton on Wednesday and I wasn't taking any pain medication so he said I could drive. I was so excited and I drove it didn't hurt, I don't think I could have driven with the ace bandages on caus it was to restricted

Thanks.  My doctor seems to think it will hurt too badly to drive and said to wait as long as 10 days to 2 weeks.  I will go crazy by then!!  lol

As soon as you are off your pain meds is when I got the OK to drive.

Thanks, Sonya!!  I do believe in taking all my pain meds so I will wait until I'm off them!!

Hi Laura,

I know everyone is different, so here is my story!

I will be 4 weeks out tomorrow (Friday, Dec 17).  I didn't drive until I was 3 weeks out.  (Just started driving a week ago).  It still hurts to stretch my arms out completely.  I can drive with my hands on the bottom of the steering wheel.  There is no way I could drive a stick right now (or my son's big 3/4 ton 4X4).

FYI, my surgeon said I was the "worst" case of arms he has done (lovely)!  So, I don't know if that makes a difference in healing time or not.  I have some "before" and about 4 days "after" pics on my profile.  I need to post some more pics soon.

I hope that helps.

Brooke K

PS I also had back/side fat removed so I have 4 inscisions instead of 2 on just the arms.
 I am 5'4" tall

I'm two weeks out, not on pain pills, and there's no way *I* could drive yet.  It would be hard to suddenly have to make a driving correction or evasive action in an emergency.
