Belly Button .....weird question

I have a weird question about my new TINY belly button.  I'll ask the surgeon when I see him on Friday but I'm curious if anyone feels like this.

I don't know why but for the first time I tried to poke my pinkie finger into my new belly button....it would not go in.  The whole area just felt "foreign" to me....like it wasn't my body I was touching.

Anyone else feel anything like that??
Has anyone never been able to poke their BB?

Thanks!
Ruth

This is so funny that you mentioned this. I guess he has a thing for tiny belly buttons. He revised mine when I had the arms and thighs done. I swear it is so tiny now. There is nothing to poke in to.

I saw on a post someone else posted about being sent home from surgery with a marble in their belly button. You couldn't put a B.B. in mine....LOL  I'm not complaining because my old belly button was so stretched out and not cute. I'm just not used to the new one. I look at it all the time. It's very tiny and there's like no hole or depth to it....very little depth at all. I still have a bit of numbness too.

LOL - you must be right it must be something about him....I think I'll ask Trishy if she's the same way.  how funny!

I'm going to ask him on Friday cause now I'm kind of pre-occupied about it. SICK, I know!
I'll let you know what he says.

Of course you know you have us all poking our belly buttons now:-))  Go figure, mine is tiny too!!  And I have no feeling in there yet - definitely foreign.

I'm not sure about everyone on her, but I know that if you've been obese and lose a lot of weight, you permanently lose your belly button -- meaning, what you have after surgery is not a real belly button, it is just skin formed to look like a belly button.  It doesn't go anywhere.  It's just skin that looks like a belly button.  Now if your real belly button was salvageable, then you have a real one, but few of us have real ones.  I know I don't.

Actually from what I've read many times the surgeon is able to use the original BB they just create new hole for it to poke thru.

"n a mini-abdominoplasty, the rectus abdominis muscles may be tightened below the belly button only, if the abdominal "bulge" is confined to that area. If abdominal wall laxity extends above the belly button, it is possible to tighten the muscles all the way up to the level of the sternum (ribcage). To do this, the umbilical stalk is divided at its base, and then reinserted at its original location once the muscle-tightening sutures have been placed. The patient still keeps their 'original' belly button."

I know sometimes it is not possible but it is my understanding that more often than not the original BB is used.

Now I have to ask my surgeon if I have my original one or not........

What a fascinating topic...LOL!!

I think it's very dependent on how obese you were.
I don't have my original one. But I'm okay with that.
