drain question
I read if I do not drain 30 cc in 24 hours I should call and have the drain removed. One leg is doing more than the other but the total was right at 30 for the last 24 hours. There is no pain or redness. I have to drive over 100 miles to the doctor and do not want to make a trip unless necessary. What do you think? Should I be worried?
My Doctor told me that she wanted the drainage to be 30cc or less for each drain for 24 hours and for three days in a row. My thought on this is for you to wait until you are consistently draining under 30 cc for at least three or four days in a row. I hear about so many patients having seromas and having to repeadetly have their fluid aspirated with a needle. I think is best to be coservative on this.
Hope you get them off soon.

I had just barely 30cc combined from both drains in the last 24 hours. I have been combining the amounts instead of keeping them separate. I plan to call the doctors office when they open today to see what they think. I do not want problems with them if they are not needed. I am scared to death of how it will feel to pull them out.

It's 30cc or less in each drain....not a total of the two.
I too drive a long distance to my surgeon, they always tell me to call first and then they decide if they want me to come in or not (one reason I love them).
If I were you I'd call the office and tell them the readings and ask if you need to come in or not.
